Any Snagit and GoPro probs in Vegas 15?

jay-boo wrote on 1/28/2018, 4:47 PM

I currently have Vegas Video Version 12 (Build 394) 64 Bit – Windows 7

Footage from my GoPro (hero 5) wouldn’t work (really chopping and slow) in V12. I did some work –around a while back but cannot seem to remember what the fix was.  But it was fixed.

I recently tried to add some screen capture videos that I took with the latest version of Snagit (mp4 videos) Only audio would show up on timeline.  So, I found a work around for that where I deactivate (move) the compoundplug.dll from a directory;.

It works, Snagit videos can now be added to timeline.

However, I noticed the my GoPro clips stopped working. I went back and re-added compoudplug.dll and Gopro works but Snagit doesn’t.

Rather than asking for more work arounds (but I am all ears if anyone has one), perhaps I should just upgrade?  Are there any new bugs like this present in Vegas 15 that disallow using mp4s from snagnit application or GoPro video?

Would it hurt to install Vegas 15 trial while still keeping Vegas 12 on my machine in case I decided not to go with V 15? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

I just downloaded the trial of V15 and things seem to be working without any tweaks. Thanks!

You may previously have used the workaround to replace mc_dec_avc.dll with one from VP11 or VP13. This probably breaks license agreements and I doubt there's a way you'd be able to obtain that DLL legally unless you actually own a license for VP11 or 13.

Build 394 is a very early build of Vegas Pro 12. The last one was # 770 with a lot of fixes.

Unfortunately I don't think this issue was fixed until VP13.

So I upgraded to 15 and everything is working well (haven’t tried 4k yet).

My one issue though is I miss the old interface/layout. By old interface I mean the really old interface/layout (maybe the original version?)

I have always had my video preview window screen in the lower right corner of screen, with the time line on top. I realize you can shuffle things around but I just can’t seem to get my old layout to click into place and exhausted all search terms on this board and internet trying to find a solution.

I seem to recall when I upgraded to 12, there was some simple fix like a menu setting option (or  maybe I downloaded a settings file some had put up online?) that got the layout and feel of everything like it was before. (putting a screenshot of what I am looking for)

Anyone have any tips? Anyway to export layout/settings in v12 and load them into v15?

After having the same layout for over 15 years it’s hard getting use to new things.. but I suppose I might reluctantly have too though as the world keeps moving on. Thanks in advance!

See "Selecting Colors for your UI Background and Buttons" in http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/online-tutorials/vegas-pro/ for customization help. Also "New layout option enables user to switch back to the VEGAS Pro 14 default layout, including revealing all buttons in the hamburger menu system."
