Steam Vegas Pro versions don't use MAGIX's registration and activation system - Steam is in its own universe as far as that goes.

Steam's community forum has the following about error code 2 which apparently is a Steam related error code:

If the problem continues, you'll probably need to contact either or both MAGIX Support and Steam Support.
