Audio Static when importing .wav audio file

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me with an audio issue I am currently having in Sony Vegas Pro 20 (on Windows 11). I recently did an update on 10/23/22 for the software today as well. Build 214. I am currently working on a project where I need to upload .wav files (sound effects) for the video. The issue begins is when I import the .wav files and drag them down into the timeline.

There is this "glitch" at the beginning of the .wav file in the sound effect. It creates a short burst audio static, goes away and then proceeds to play the sound effect clip. Then there is the issue of it skipping a frame (where no audio can be heard) later in the audio file. When played outside of Sony Vegas Pro 20 all the audio files sound fine with no issues.

I figured if I just spliced the glitch sound out, then that would be the solution. However after you do that the sound file just creates another audio static to play in the middle of the track.

I've already tried the "Control + Shift" buttons while double clicking the program to do a "reset" but that also did not work. I also tried adjusting minor audio settings in preferences but so far nothing is working.

Can anybody please help me? I'm unable to do my work because even when you render out the file it plays the video, but the audio has muted segments where the audio static would be at.

1) Did you check "Clear cache" in the form that appears? This is an important point.

2. Please respect the company name "Vegas" - and check if your software is a "Sony" product, as these are usually pirated. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/

1) Yes. I did make sure the "clear cache" box was also clicked.

2) I did buy the program from the official site as well.

Please do a forum Search ("Find...") "audio +glitch" to find related threads.

And the full resetting advice is here. (Follow the instructions closely.)

An audio glitch right after hitting 'play' can be resolved with a playback buffer adjustment, but there are reports of other audio issues in VP-20, so that might not help.

Sadly, I couldn't find a solution to this glitch. And no, full resetting Vegas didn't help at all...
I don't want to be forced to use premiere 😂

Try another audio device type. "Options> Preferences> Audio Device"
