Presumably you are referring to the NewBlue transitions which if installed correctly should appear in the Transitions Pane of your Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum.

In what way are they "not working correctly"?

Darkblue wrote on 2/29/2020, 9:05 PM

Thanks for the reply Eric. They appear to be watermarked (I can see an FX) after rendering my video. And they don’t seem to transition correctly.

EricLNZ wrote on 2/29/2020, 9:50 PM

I haven't bothered with them with VMS16 but from what I remember from earlier versions and posts here, you need to register them with NewBlue. Did you get a serial number for them along with your VMS16 serial number?

If you cannot activate...

David-Chamberlain wrote on 3/5/2020, 5:50 PM

I have installed and registered the NewBlue FX packages that were part of the purchase of Movie Studio 16 Platinum but I can't find them when I open Movie Studio. If I got to Tools>Video>Video Track FX they are not listed yet the install and activation was successful.

vkmast wrote on 3/5/2020, 6:16 PM

I assume you do not see them either if you click "fx" in the Track Header?

@David-Chamberlain

EricLNZ wrote on 3/5/2020, 6:28 PM

Aren't they transitions? If so they are applied to event overlaps not tracks.

Darkblue wrote on 3/5/2020, 6:39 PM

I uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas and now my NewBlue transitions are gone. What’s going on here Vegas and NewBlue? It said it came with these transitions and now it seems they are a trial or not available. That was never disclosed when I purchased 16 Platinum. Does anyone know how to contact Vegas? Their website is a maze that you can never find how to speak to customer service.

"The "download managers" are small (typically approx. 4MB). When run, they will fetch a much larger (e.g. 400-450MB), main installer for the current release, along with other bundled plugins and apps"

And please see this link (high up on this page)

No - that takes me to the same place as the Tools path I described above.

@David-Chamberlain see if this thread might help.

That seems to be about Vegas Pro - I have Movie Studio 16.

Here's the screen that shows that I have the Blue FX products installed and activated ...

vkmast wrote on 3/5/2020, 7:29 PM

@David-Chamberlain the thread I linked applies to both. Pls see also EricLNZ's comment above re Transitions.

Darkblue wrote on 3/5/2020, 7:30 PM

I have that page and in mine it says “trial”. I never received an activation code for NewBlue.

Your suggestion in that thread is to use Shift-Left-Click to reset/clear cache. Holding down Shift and Left Click does nothing for me when I start MS16.

I watched a video on YouTube which showed the BlueFX add-ons exactly where I looked in the Tools path. In that video there is a sub-folder dedicated to them. I don't have that sub-folder displayed. Here's a screen shot ...

vkmast wrote on 3/5/2020, 7:41 PM

@David-Chamberlain there were two suggestions in that linked thread. Regarding resetting did you see the pop-up which enables you to place a checkmark to clear the cache? And are you in Power User mode?

vkmast wrote on 3/5/2020, 7:45 PM

@Darkblue still not clear which version you have. Btw, did you read @EricLNZ here?

(And sorry guys, it's 3:45 AM here. I'm off to sleep.

@Darkblue Check your email from Magix that contained your VMS Code. Often they are there but users just haven't scrolled down far enough!

@David-Chamberlain It's CTRL+SHIFT as you click. But it may not work from Windows Start Menu. You need desktop icon or shortcut to the exe file. http://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

@David-Chamberlain I don't know where Filters5 Refocus fit in as they don't appear to be part of VMS16 offerings. Maybe you got them with other software or an earlier VMS version.

Anyway the Transitions 5 Ultimate came with your VMS16 Platinum. But as I said earlier they are TRANSITIONS. Transitions occur across two events (clips) when they overlap. They cannot be applied to a video track. They should appear in your Transitions tab. I cannot show you them as I don't have them installed.

Thank you. I was using CTRL-SHIFT, sorry for the confusion. However, your next suggestion clinched it for me - I dragged the app icon to my desktop and then was able to reset the cache. I had assumed that I could use that key-combination on the taskbar icon but Windows is a bit finicky. Thanks again.

I bought my copy from the Australian site (as it is closest to New Zealand where I live). The price was actually better than the Euro or US$ prices and the Filters5 Refocus were included. Worryingly, I have just received an invoice from the German MAGIX office - I hope they are not expecting me to pay for it a second time.

David-Chamberlain wrote on 3/5/2020, 8:36 PM

Here's a couple of screen shots since the cache reset. No much to speak of in the filters but then I don't really know what I should expect to see.
