Bug? Loop Area is not saved with a project

cheekygeek wrote on 5/17/2017, 2:27 PM

I've been a user of Movie Studio since version 10 or so and now getting started with 14.0 (Build 105) on Windows 7. One annoyance is that the defined Loop Area is not saved with projects. Whenever you open a saved project, the Loop Area is undefined (at the starting point and not set). It is very annoying to have to go back and reset that each time. Is this a known bug and will it be addressed in a future update?

It's the same in Build 122. Maybe by design and not a bug? Magix needs to enlighten us.

Did you ever save this en could open it again and in what version of Vegas?

Also confirmed here for Platinum build 122. The loop region does get saved with a project in Vegas Pro 12, 13 and 14 (but not in 10).

Doesn't get saved in Sony MS12 or Vegas MS13. Looks like it got removed several versions ago so suspect cheekygeek is out of luck in that it's unlikely a bug.

That's the opposite behaviour to MS where it appears it saved in 10 but not in 12,13 &14. Maybe it is considered a pro feature?

Possibly but I really doubt that such a differentiation was ever intended.

@cheekygeek I suggest you submit a support request at https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form . That's the best way to get issues into the developers' backlog and subsequently fixed.

I have Vegas Pro 16 and the loop region doesn't save with the project, which means i have to reset them each time i open a project (annoying and unnecessary).

I notice this thread is from two years ago, was a fix ever done or am i missing something?

Is there an option in the settings to make the loop region save along with the actual project?
Thanks for letting me know.

You give here a comment on a Movie Studio forum.
And you are using VPro 16.

With VMS 16 for me it is possible as normal to save a "loop region" in a project as it is in VPro 16 where I am able to save and open both, also as opening in Vegas Pro that made vf projectfile with a loop region.

I think somewhere you make a mistake by thinking a loop in edit is the same as making a loop region for a project. The resulting project after make somewhere a play loop or something is not the same as making a loop region with the menu Insert.

@EricLNZ

As @j-v says. After you have created a loop region (time selection), choose Insert > Region or click "R" or right-click between the yellow triangles and from the opening menu click "Insert Region". Numbered region tags are placed at the start and end of the selected area.

Like vkmast pointed to, a "Region" and a "Loop Region" are different types of regions. Both Vegas Pro and Movie Studio can save Regions but cannot save Loop-Regions (with the exception if you use Vegasaur with Vegas Pro as Vegasaur has a tool for saving and restoring Loop-Regions, but this does not work with Movie Studio).
