As far as I can remember, VMS11 was able to edit native AVCHD. But why purchasing now VMS11 when VMS14 will be released in a few days?

Thank you for the reply. Cost is the simple answer. I have VMS 8 which cannot handle the 'new' format. I have been looking around on Ebay for an earlier version (than 14). I suppose waiting for 14 would be good but if an earlier version is more than good enough for my requirements, why pay more?

For what it is worth, I tried the free version of Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 12 but for all that it is an all singing and dancing software package, the raw file would have to be converted before the software could handle it. Another reason for coming back to VMS.

A further question if I may. Can I use VMS 8 as the basic package and upgrade it to VMS 13?

Check what you get from https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade. But choose the Platinum version rather than the basic version.

VMS14 will be released before end of THIS month. There will probably an upgrade offer or better said an introduction offer, like the same way as Vpro14 was introduced, which made no difference between old users and new users.

The best offer was released a few weeks ago, buy VMS13 and get VMS14 for free, but as far as I know this offer is expired.

Thanks to both of you. Most helpful. At the moment I can get an upgrade to 13 for $39.99. Sounds like a long wait though if it's coming from the USA.

Is it not possible for you to choose the Buy Download option?

Hi vkmast.

I have just been looking - seems like a good idea. Initially, I wasn't sure if an upgrade would work from such an old version (VMS8) but I'm willing to give it a go now.

Taa.

Make sure that you get the Platinum version of VMS, whatever version number.
