Can't get out of expanded mode

Martin L wrote on 12/21/2017, 10:28 AM

Something happened and a track went into Expanded Edit mode. But there is no way of exiting it. The track is divided in two, but there is no option in the Edit/Select menu to exit it. The Enter expanded editi mode is there and clickable and if I do I enter it again event though its already in that mode. Now the exit menu appears and after exiting I am still in Expanded Edit mode.

What can I do? I don't want it now.

Double-click the edge of an A/B Event or right-click the track header and deselect "Expand Track Layer".

Also item 28. in the main FAQ.

Thanks guys. I had missed or forgotten that. It did the trick. I had read the help files which gave the same info as in item 28 but without the finishing words I needed in this case:

'If no red square bracket appears then your track layers are simply expanded. To "unexpand" them, right click on the track header (the area to the left of the track) > uncheck "Expand Track Layers".'

Thanks again!

Or press 5 on the Numeric Keyboard --- far quicker.

Pressing 5 on the Numeric Keyboard does not help in Martin L's case if he was actually not in the Expanded Edit mode as he says. His track layers were "simply expanded". Pressing 5 on Num kb in that state gets you to Expanded Edit (with red square bracket) but toggling 5 then does not get you out of A/B roll.

That's right. The track was in "Expand Track Layers" mode, but not in "Expanded edit" mode. I didn't understand the difference between the two. And perhaps I still don't really... 😁
