Can't import MP4 file

billvo wrote on 12/12/2022, 4:21 PM

If I drag an MP4 to a new timeline or go file->import and point to the file, I get "The activation code is incorrect. Please make sure it has been entered correctly or contact the MAGIX customer service."

I've been able to open these same files in Vegas before. In another fresh install of Vegas on another machine, when I imported the MP4, I got a message that AAC was successfully activated. So something on this installation isn't allowing AAC to be activated?

Is the PC online? Vegas has to 'phone home' 'occasionally' to verify licenses.

Yes, it is definitely online. I reinstalled Vegas and re-registered the application. So, it's getting to the activation server for the sake of Vegas, but the activation for MP4/ AAC isn't right.

I'm getting the same error on my second computer. Works fine on the first computer i installed but on the second one i can't use MP4s without getting the The activation code is incorrect. Please make sure it has been entered correctly or contact the MAGIX customer service." error. I tried uninstalling and deactivating the license on the second computer but that did not work. Any ideas?

Search the forum and you'll find a few threads on this such as https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/movie-studio-17-0-platinum-will-not-let-me-import-mp4-files--120612/#ca857891

Short answer - try temporary turning off your network protection while importing your first mp4 file.

Tried turning off Windows Security and imported an mp4 file. Same problem.  "The activation code is incorrect. Please make sure it has been entered correctly or contact the MAGIX customer service."

What's ironic about the message is I can find absolutely no way to contact MAGIX customer service about this issue. The message that pops up gives me a link to support.magix.net which redirects to magix.info. On the Support link, it gives links to all other Magix products EXCEPT Vegas. Everything else takes you in circles. Apparently, there is no support by MAGIX on this product.

Thanks. Actually, I did connect that way but got an auto response from Magix Sales Dept., so I am doubtful that I'll receive any technical support from them.

Remaining hopeful...

Did you contact VEGAS Support using this link: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/ ?

I've tried multiple things with Vegas Support and still no resolution. Looks like a Windows reinstall is next on my list.
