Can't install Movie Studio 12: sfppack1_x64.dll

I recently purchased a copy of version 12 of Movie Studio. When I try to install it, I receive an error message saying that sfppack1_x64.dll failed to register.

I'm installing this on a Lenovo ThinkPad T440 running Windows 7 64 bit.

I've tried RegEdit, but didin't see anything obviously amiss. In the Sony Knowledge Base, I saw an article about installing a component of the Microsoft MSDK to fix this problem. That didn't work.

Any advice or experience is welcomed.

Does the program still work?

It could be that the program installed but that something is bugging up the installation of your effects driver.

The program doesn't install, so it doesn't work. Installation aborts halfway through with an error message about sfppack1_64.dll not registering.

Are you installing from a CD or a download? Perhaps try the download of the latest version?

I also wonder if you can pre-register a copy of the dll in your registry. You would need the file to be copied into its appropriate folder first though.

I'm installing from CD of version 12 onto my computer at work.

I bought version 12 because 1) it's the version I have on my home computer and know, and 2) it was very affordable.

I may have to give up and install the new version from download.

Thanks.

You can try downloading V12 free update. Use that installer. At the top of the page, go to My Account>My Software. You should see your software there if it was registered. Click download. If it hasn't been registered yet, there are other sites that will enable you to download the demo version of V12. Then you just have to add the serial number.

As Markk655 suggests, download the final update of MSP 12, which was build 1183 (32-bit) / 1184 (64-bit).
If you don't get it in your My Account>My Software, you can still download most of the builds of the various Movie Studio versions from SCS here

Btw, for some reason the latest VPro versions/builds do not seem to be currently available there.
