Same here, I responded to an email offer to "Upgrade", what a joke... Why would any company "upgrade" your existing product to a product that can't open your existing files?
But if one does upgrade from Movie Studio to Vegas Pro can the latter open MS's vf files?
This text used to be in the old SCS KB, but was removed some time ago.
"Vegas Movie Studio project files (*.vf) will open in Vegas Pro if the (*.vf) file was created in a numerical version that is less than or equal to the numerical version of Vegas Pro."
To be on the safe side, save it in VPro with a new name.
I have not tested any of the MAGIX versions/builds to verify if it the advice is still valid.
Thanks, everyone. Situation is we purchased a couple of copies of the lower cost Movie Studio 13 to supplement my copy of Sony Vegas Pro 11 so a colleague can assist with smaller video jobs of which we have a lot. Never thought the two would be totally incompatible. We have well documented story boards so my buddys will just have to re-create the products he has to maintain in 13 - royal pain but thank goodness we took the time to maintain well documented storyboards. Appreciate the comments.
