CANNOT get Video to Finish Rendering AT ALL

Sarah-Harlow wrote on 4/16/2020, 2:20 PM

I have Movie Studio 16, just the regular basic version. I have a project I have been trying to render for the last day and it freezes at a specific percentage every time. When it freezes, I have to go to task manager and end task to get it to close. I have tried deleting things off my computer, resetting Movie Studio to default settings, cutting up the video into smaller sections, deleting the clip that it kept crashing on, rendering it as multiple types and it just won't budge. When I go to video preferences, the option to change GPU acceleration and Dynamic Ram don't even show. It is a pretty big project with both .mp4 files and .mov files, but I've done videos longer than this with no problem. My computer is up to date (I have Windows), Movie Studio is up to date, I have no idea what's going on and it's driving me insane. 😫😫

Welcom!

When I go to video preferences, the option to change GPU acceleration and Dynamic Ram don't even show.

Did you ever saw that?

AFAIK it is not available in the plain version.

When it freezes, I have to go to task manager and end task to get it to close.

What says the taskmanager about CPU, GPU and Memory loads at that moment?

No I never saw it, it just always comes up when I google how to fix this problem, didn't realize my version doesn't come with it.

CPU goes from 46%-50% and 2.29 GHz

Memory 4.9/7.9 (62%)

GPU sayy 1%

That's all normal.
Best is to look what might be strange or faulty on the spot where the render freezes everytime. Maybe a screenshot here of the zoomed timeline on that spot can maybe help us to look for things.

I trimmed down the video to the problem area and this whole section is what keeps crashing

Sarah-Harlow wrote on 4/16/2020, 4:26 PM

It froze right here. PS I'm aware the video is weird 😂

We will likely need your computer specifications, details on the media you imported into the project and the format you are rendering to.

Sarah-Harlow wrote on 4/16/2020, 5:25 PM

I have an Inspiron 13-7353 64-bit 8.00GB of RAM. What details do you need for the media? And I rendered to mp4, the automatic selection for internet videos.

I trimmed the video down piece by piece and realized there's a handful of clips that seem to be the problem, I'm not sure why they kept freezing though seeing as it's all from the same videos.

Are you able to give the precise name, nr , etc of your used processor, because in the generation of CPU's for your laptop there are also some with only 2 cores and that is too low for use of VMS 16

What I was afraid of.
Only 2 cores

This say the specs for VMS 16

so does that mean my computer isn't strong enough?

I finally rendered the video but I had to cut out about 30 seconds of the 'problem area.' I switched to Movie Studio 16 because the program I previously had (Movie Studio Platinum 11) was crashing left and right. This was the first video I had a really hard time with rendering.

vkmast wrote on 4/18/2020, 2:35 PM

Consider switching to the latest version of MS Platinum if possible. See specs quoted above.
