cant add music to my timeline with downloaded songs from anew or past

i am making a dvd slideshow for my friends daughter. im not a rookie at this but its has got be alittle bewildered why i cant use the new songs ive downloaded or even the songs i have had on my computer for a very long time.ill try to get songs off my phone or a folder on my computer and once i click on the folder to import them. its not recognizing any of the songs. its not seeing anything. i can open these folders on the computer and they will play songs but the movie studio 15 is not seeing the files for me to import. i have recently had computer guys upgrade my computer with windows 10. i dont know if some setting is not turned on ? if anybody can help me i would appreciate it for im trying to get something that worked so easily in the past to work

What type of files are they?

Check that in VMS 15 in the Explorer window it is set to show "All files".

Can you open file explorer and find the file you want to use then drag it into the timeline?
