changing from Vegas Pro 18 suite to Vegas pro 18 Post

Marc-Gold wrote on 8/10/2020, 2:47 PM

Just upgraded my Vegas 17 pro suite to 18, then learned about Post. I'd like to migrate into Post or add the other two modules that come with post. Can't reach the sales dep't. to ask them how to do this. Any suggestions? Pro 18 is already installed, working and paid for. Many thanks. Email if you wish: marc@24ktsound.com

@Marc-Gold be careful, Vegas Post is not compatible with Boris FX. So when you have the suite with Boris plugins (and newblue FX could be an issue as well), and want POST on top, this is going to be tricky. There is a reason why Magix does not include Boris with POST...

I speak of personal experience, I had BORIS FX (the complete continuum), purchased and upgraded to the original VEGAS POST and then the trouble started. I finally had to get a refund from post and re-purchased a new licence for Vegas edit 17 so I could use Vegas with Boris.

@bitman This is a completely incomprehensible policy of VEGAS. After all, when proposing plugins for Vegas Pro, which is part of Vegas Post, it's natural to assume that Boris plugins will work! I'm just considering switching to Vegas Post but I have Boris Continuum and Mocha Pro - do I understand correctly that they won't work with Vegas Post?

We have been working with both FXhome, the creators of VEGAS Effects, and BorisFX for a solution to this problem. The problem with these plugins working in Effects is due to some host locking features in the Boris FX packages. A similar problem existed after VEGAS Pro 17 released over a year ago. In VEGAS, we placed a bypass around these effects and Boris updated most current FX packages to properly run in VEGAS Pro 17 (and beyond). We are hoping to have a similar workaround for VEGAS Effects in an update at some point in the near future, and we are told that Boris is looking into an update to their plugins which will resolve the problem.
