Thank you Eric. For a product that customers pay for, I don't know why they want to keep it crippled like that. It's not like people would want to buy Pro just because it has a global Disable Resample option... unless they have money to burn. ;) I love the product, other than that. :)
I *think* I've found a bug: if you're on the Welcome Screen, choose Tall/Phone/Tablet editing mode, followed by Power User Mode, Movie Studio *isn't* switching to tall dimensions - it stays on 1920x1080 (wide format).

Confirmed. I cannot even find a 1080x1920 option in Project Settings.
I have just installed the trial version of VMS16 Platinum, which went without a hitch, and have had a quick first look. My impressions are that you've added more features than you list - a number of subtle changes, as well as the more obvious additions, such as scrubbing thumbnails and specialised layouts.
One thing I do miss though is the tree view for transitions, effects, etc - please, please bring that back.
Also, I spent some time setting up my VMS15 with the windows layout, a couple of custom render options, and small things like the colour of the volume envelopes, etc. I have successfully used my VMS15 custom windows layout in VMS16, but are there easy ways to import my other preferences? 🙂

There probably is if you can find where they are and copy over. But personally I wouldn't consider it a wise thing to do. Best to start with a clean slate. There's always the possibility you may introduce a problem. I've all my preferences printed out on an A4 sheet for reference. It's amazing how many I now have.
Thanks EricLNZ, I have now copied all the preferences, and did this by running VMS15 and VMS16 at the same time, and with one on each monitor it was easy to check them all. Most, but not all, of my settings are defaults. Have you thought of using a screen recorder to capture all of your preferences?
Whilst doing this, I discovered that you can now have the buttons that are active in any colour, which is something I asked for a long time ago. This is a really useful detail improvement.
Finally, my custom render options from VMS15 appeared automatically in VMS16, which was a nice surprise.
With VMS 16 When I go to the Make Movie Upload to Youtube in VMS16 The dialog box comes up cut off at the bottom and the upload button is not there. Moving window around does no good. Bottom of the dialog box remains cut off. It works fine on my VMS15 and other previous versions. Today was my first day using 16 for youtube and had to revert back to 15 instead. I tried resetting with ctrl/shift but no luck.
Hello, I've just hit 2 problems with VMS16 that weren't in VMS15.
When changing the edit tool type, for example between normal and shuffle, although the tool itself changes, the icon does not always reflect this change, which is confusing.
I work with a custom windows layout using two screens. When I drag a transition from the transitions window onto the timeline, the windows layout reverts to its default.
With No.2 it may depend on your layout and we need to copy this to check. Layouts are stored at Users\"User"\AppData\Roaming\Movie Studio Platinum\16.0. It's only a small file. Can you upload it somewhere.

This forum won't allow that type of file to be uploaded, so here is a link to a copy on my Google Drive:
@alderny Thanks Steve. I managed to load your window setup. I couldn't reproduce your problem but I suspect there is a problem with my windows duplicating your setup. My second monitor is smaller than my main. Consequently it shows the Media Pane and Transitions in cropped windows and I cannot move them or dock them as the top bar is off my screen.
With me your settings not do it very well on my 2 screens.
This I see on my main monitor
and this on my second
When I drag a transition onto my timeline with your lay out setting and with a splitted go pro 5 file I see this what I think is normal and not that it resets something, so you must have doing someting wrong.
@EricLNZ & @j-v Thanks for looking into this for me, and I have found the problem, which was my fault. I'm not completely sure what I did, but I know I used my VMS15 windows layout, tweaked it slightly and saved it in Users/Steve/AppData/Roaming/Movie Studio Platinum/16.0. However, the windows organiser was still pointing to Users/Steve/AppData/Roaming/Movie Studio Platinum/15.0. I cured the problem by setting the organiser to point to the 16.0 directory. I also tidied up my layout by deleting old, unused ones.
Has anyone tried the motion tracking function? My needs are well met in V15 Platinum, but the motion tracking would be useful. I looked at the tutorial which seems a bit tedious, but would probably be easier with practice. My main need for it is in tracking radio controlled planes , and my hand isn't that steady.
I do not have the link on hand, but if you use the auto-update feature, it should the correct installer for the currently installed language. If that is not happening, please let me know and we can investigate.
