Comparison Newblue Titler pro2 and pro1

Grazie wrote on 12/14/2012, 1:49 AM
Title says all.

What's the experience of all you Titler Enthusiasts, Dabblers, Gurus who've had any of those "Oh my!" moments, now having gone from Pro1 to Pro2?

BTW, I'm loving Pro1, and don't need MUCH pushing to go to Pro2. And this was the guy whom, back in the day, purchased Boris Graffiti 3.0 - when you all were telling me not to!

So, recommendations to UG - please?

Grazie

As I understand it, and jetdv will correct me, the original version of Titler 1 became problematic in its early version installs. This means a lot of bad press was generated for NewBlue. Attempts to get it right resulted in a kludge up mess. The word is if you are happy with and get by successfully with Version 1 you should continue to be happy.

AT full retail price (which could be too much) Version 2 appeals to those who need the satisfaction of a REAL bug fix. By the way that has not totally been proven to be true - but I think NewBlue made some real progress with this version to their credit. Yes, indeed, there are more features, so it is more than Version1. Whether you will benefit has to be measured by the retail price and/or the upgrade price - both are way too much.

Some have compared HitFilm Ultimate 3d titling and say it blows NewBlue out of the water. IS THIS TRUE - don't know. At any rate this is really a price war as well as a market share issue at this point.

I can see a point to NewBlue being in your toolbox if you are doing crossgrade installs say between Edius6.5 and VegasPro12.

Grazie you are reading my mind exactly on this thread!

I was able to see an "upgrade" price on Titler Pro 2 of about $150 USD in my shopping cart. I am now searching for any legit discount codes that I may have received in email from New Blue and deleted because, at the time, I thought Nah, I don't need that. Cannot justify the full standalone price right now.

But back to the original OP, is it really that much better?

* Custom 3D Bevels – Create a unique bevel on any style layer to maximize

* 3D impact Wide angle – Adjust the camera lens of the scene for extreme or subtle perspective

* Video import – Add video as a 3D picture-in-picture or as background elements

* Video as texture – Apply video as a texture to any style layer or shape for dynamic compositions

* Custom texture position – Now adjust the position, scale and size of any image or video texture

* True motion blur – Output smooth, realistic motion titles at the time of render

* Multiple light sources – Create the perfect mood and space for your titles with lighting control

* Light Keyframing – Manipulate three different kinds of lights in space with keyframes

* Material shine control – Dial in the perfect amount of surface shine for each style layer

* New multi-point shape – Design stars, bursts and radial objects with this new vector shape

* EPS file support – Import vector files and extrude them for 3D logos and custom objects

* Text-to-text transitions - Now use any NewBlue transition to morph one text into another using transitions between paragraphs"

A few things to note:

1. We are working very closely with several people having issue and getting these issues resolved. The current release has many of these fixes in it. More will be coming as additional issues are resolve. A lot has changed over the last few months.

2. All of the bug fixes being placed into Titler Pro 2 have also been added to Titler Pro 1 in the current versions. So you are not forced to upgrade to Titler Pro 2 just to get bug fixes.

3. There are a lot of powerful new features in Titler Pro 2. If you are not seeing upgrade pricing to go from Titler Pro 1, we can certainly assist you there.

4. If you are having an issue with Titler Pro, just installing the current version and making sure your video driver is up to date can certainly help.

As of today, the current Titler Pro 1 version is:

The current 121205 version of NBTP 1 installed without problems (VP12). Úninstalling the previous version was not necessary.

Ditto.

And my other NB transitions and FX still show up in Titler without the need to re-install, etc. Thanks NewBlue!

Edward, In addition to you providing a link to the latest build, how can we determine on our own whether a newer build is available?
I upgraded to NBTP2 & I want to know if I have the latest build.

So I downlaod the updated version for Titler Pro 1 and now with program wants my serial number. I enter it (from the Vegas Card) and the program does not accept the code. I've also lost my extra font collections and effects that I purchased.

Nothing but problems with NewBlue...

@Jr:

If you put a Titler Pro event on the timeline and then select "Help," you should see a menu prompt to "Check for Updates." That should launch the updater process and it will tell you if an update is available. It will also tell you if an upgrade is available, but it should distinguish between the two.

Regards,

Kimberly

I tried the above and the updater files are named the same for version 1 and 2, so only version 1 gets updated. If you look closely at what is offered with version 2 open, the dialog shows version 1 not version 2.

Are the font collections and FX the newer GPU versions, or the original non-GPU versions? I bumped into that at the end of October when I upgraded from VP 11 to VP 12.

As I recall, I had the non-GPU NewBlues and they did show up in VP 11 Titler Pro, but not in VP 12 Titler Pro. I elected to upgrade to the GPU versions, and now they show up. Not sure if that is what you are seeing but that that's what I encountered.

You might want to open a help ticket with NewBlue or do a chat. They are pretty quick on their responses and I've always had success with their tech support staff.
Bofus wrote on 12/14/2012, 7:05 PM
I have got the Collections back by manually copying the files from version 1 folders to version 2 locations. Still have the version 1 registration issue. I'll have to log an event with support. They all worked before the new update of version 1 was done.

Thanks,

The current build of Titler Pro 1 is 121205.

The current build of Titler Pro 2 is 121206

If you open Titler Pro 1, go to Help - Check for Updates, it will return the update information for Titler Pro 1.

If you open Titler Pro 2, go to Help - Check for Updates, it will return the update information for Titler Pro 2.

Bofus, if you install Titler Pro 1 and only choose the "OpenFX" version, all will work fine in Vegas Pro 11 and 12.

I have Titler Pro 2 and when I click update it wants to download NewBlueTitlerProforWindows10-121205.exe.

?

Edit: I changed the address bar to NewBlueTitlerProforWindows20-121206.exe and it worked.

I just checked and my "check for updates" files are correct. So I'm checking further to see why it might pick the incorrect download.

Anyway: The current versions as of today are:

Titler Pro 2.0, Win
http://downloads.newbluefx.com/downloads/Windows/NewBlueTitlerProForWindowsSetup20-121206.exe

Titler Pro 1.0, Win

Edward, I started to download through the Check For Updates within Vegas. It started to crawl at something like 30kb/sec. Closed out of VP, did it directly through FFx and got up to 2mb/sec - better!

Titler Pro 1 & 2 working.

The initial build of Titler Pro 2 that was part of the initial upgrade special by Sony accidentally referenced the Titler Pro 1 file. That is why you are getting the incorrect download. This has since been corrected and I have updated the file to contain the download link for Titler Pro 2 in the Titler Pro 1 update file - just in case.

I am sorry jetdv, I can not even point to NBT1 without Vegas stop working. NBT1 never worked very well for me but the version which was downloaded with Vegas 12 was not to bad. However the new release is hopeless.
NBT2 works very well though.
