Confused between Magix Product Lines and Products

Hi,

I'm based in UK and first started using Movie Studio as a free cut-down version that was provided on an old Sony tablet. I then purchased an upgrade to Movie Studio Platinum 13.0 online and a later upgrade to Movie Studio 15.0, which also included a bundled copy of DVD Architect. I use Windows 10 as my platform of choice and I am a hobbyist at video editing.

I am considering another upgrade to a more current version and find that when I start Movie Studio 15 I'm being offered a 'deal' to upgrade to VEGAS Pro 18 Edit.. However, if I go to the Magix UK website, I find that they do not offer Vegas products, but instead offer MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2021 at a much cheaper cost. I understand that Vegas is a subsidiary division of MAGIX.

Please can someone clarify to me what the difference is between the Vegas and MAGIX product lines and also explain the differences between VEGAS Pro 18 Edit and MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2021?

Thanks, hopefully, in advance for helping me to better understand this extremely confusing set of product lines and products.

Bill.

In addition, note that MAGIX keeps their VEGAS product lines (that they acquired in 2016) and MAGIX products on separate sites. You need to inspect these sites. There are free trials of the products available.

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/gb/

https://www.magix.com/gb/ (see down that page Portals incl. link to VEGAS Software)

Thanks,

The link you provided helps a lot Jack S and as a result I think I will just upgrade to VEGAS Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum, as it provides all I need as a consumer rather than professional.

I was already aware of the separate portals and had reviewed both without really getting my head around it all. I am assuming that the MAGIX and VEGAS product lines were initially the separate products from the different companies prior to acquisition and they have continued to maintain that separation and not fully merged the products. Though from reading the comparisons, I get the feeling that they are slowly coming together and may well merge over time.
