Constant crashing - what shall I upgrade to?

Hi there,

I currently have Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 and run it on a Windows 7 machine with 16GB RAM. Vegas has run flawlessly for years, but today, after trying to render an epic project with loads of tracks it just keeps crashing. I can't figure out why this is, but suspect because my copy (and PC) are old and it can't handle all the various tracks.

Problem Description
Application Name:    Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum
Application Version: Version 11.0 (Build 322)
   Problem:             Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
Fault Module:        C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0\vegasmoviestudiope110k.dll
   Fault Address:       0x100F075F
   Fault Offset:        0x000F075F

However, the latest versions of Movie Studio aren't compatible with Windows 7 so does anyone know if there is any version I can upgrade to and how?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me. I have to get this project submitted in two weeks so am starting to panic!

With luck, you might still find VEGAS MS Platinum 15/14 (MAGIX releases) moderately priced on reliable third-party online sellers. They are 64-bit versions, so you could use much more of your RAM than with v.11.

I'd still suggest you consider the VMS Platinum 17 upgrade though. (Currently ~$40, see this comment. You may (need to) upgrade to Win10 sooner than you think.

Thank you. Just tried it, thought it had helped but it just crashed later during the render process :/

Cheers guys. I've managed to get around the crash by re-adding the clips of video that it would crash on. In some cases a simple move forward and back a second was enough for it to not crash at that point again. (Though it did crash at another spot instead). Managed to get a render, now cross everything that no edits are required! I can't face updating to Win 10. :(
