Creating and Moving a Region

IntrepBerkExplorer wrote on 9/27/2015, 9:04 PM
Due to an unknown error, my timeline has been separated into a pair of different parts, with a great deal of space between them. I need to bring both parts of my movie together, but attempts to create and move a region were total failures.

I tried following the Online Help instructions, but nothing about "regions" worked the way the instructions told me to expect.

Copy and paste also failed, as I could not control the paste location.

It will be very burdensome trying to move each edit manually. There has to be some way the outlying right portion of my timeline can be moved cleanly back into connection with the left portion.

I am not a technical person, but work hard on my hobby of editing very watchable amateur travel videos. I have Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0, which has never done anything comparable to this mess previously.

I really do need help.

Does deleting the "great deal of space between them" work?

Can you not ripple? If its engaged and you click on and drag the first event of the second group to the left all subsequent events will follow.

Richard.

Or, with ripple on, double-click on the track in the large space and press the Delete key.

vkmast,

I do not think it is possible to delete empty space on the timeline.

There is no command for that.

Richard and Chienworks,

I thank you both for coming up with a solution.

Ripple Delete did work and my video is back together.

Since two minutes of vacant space separated the parts of "Rainbow Nation Safari",
I mistakenly thought there was nothing for Ripple Delete to delete.

But placing two minutes of generated media into the open space, Ripple Deleting it, then Ripple Deleting the markers left behind was the answer.

Thanks again.

Inserting generated media was unnecessary. Simply double-clicking in the space selects it, and then delete removes that selection.
