You can create your own template. Set it up however you like. Pin vegas 16 to the bottom of your task bar, then save the template. Now you should be able to right click on the icon on your taskbar and open that template directly.
BTW text can go on any track not that video track specific. The tracks have names by default.

As said above, there are only video tracks (the "text" track is one of them) and audio tracks. You can rename any of them by double-clicking or right-clicking on the Track Name.

That I tried. But with me, with more than 1 version of VMS Platinum installed, it is from the second time going wrong, because that project starts again with version 14 or 15 that I have also installed. Even in spite of telling Windows it has to start with VMS PL 16.
@j-v thanks for bringing this up. If I should want to use the newproject.vf, I'd always use "open in app" and for me VMS16P happens to be the 3rd "M" icon in the screenshot. Clicking that it does open in v16. My screenshot may be in a strange language, but I know you get the picture.
Yess, I agree but everytime I have to do that means extra steps to open VMS 16 Pl. I prefer when the program is opened to select the first visible track, push Ctrl-A and push "delete" and have what I want to begin with.
@j-v actually I prefer to do that as well, though I am not bothered by the couple of extra steps which I'd have to do later anyway, i.e. "select/push/push".
