Difference between Platinum and Suite?

Ok well it seems downloading and installing Movie Studio 17 Platinum told me precisely jack about what happens to all my FX if I upgrade from 16 Platinum unless it's going to just delete all my presets and FX from all the past versions that's working now in 16. If it does that is not an upgrade that is a massive downgrade since I use a lot of those. Too bad someone from Magix can't just say what happens! This is exactly why I am always hesitant to upgrade.

16 platinum FX

17 platinum trial FX 🤷‍♂️

A good example of why you should download a trial to find out.

Your missing FX aren't compatible with VMS17 due to changes that were made. My Ignite Express 2017 items which was a free download also don't appear in VMS17. You could check with FXHome whether any updated versions are available but I suspect only the paid for versions may have been updated.

Anyway the decision is yours as to whether you stick with 16 or move to 17. By the way 17 doesn't delete your presets as you state. It simply doesn't load them. They are still there for you to use in 16.

Thanks @EricLNZ maybe we're getting somewhere.

@vkmast Something else has crossed my mind and with your experience you might know. If one downloads a Suite trial version do you get the extras (such as the FXhome Ignite Advanced VFX Pack) to play with? If so then presumably a trial serial number for these would be required in addition to the VMS Serial? I ask because I suspect BWX232 may not have these with his trial. It's years since I tried a Suite trial as nowadays I only bother with Platinum.

I downloaded the Platinum trial only.. I guess if I can still use the FX in 16.0 then if I really want to use them they will still be there. The only way I can tell what will happen with 17 Platinum or Suite is to buy it and install it though. That was kind of my whole point in asking what the difference is and what will happen to all my FX. I suppose if I don't like what happens I can ask for a refund. but I do not know if a refund can be given for an "Upgrade".. Since it is not a stand-alone program as far as license and buying it is concerned. I have a feeling most of those FX from 16.0 will pop up in 17.0 and maybe some just won't work, that seems to be what happened from 13 to 16 upgrades IIRC. I can't remember exactly though.

@EricLNZ I've avoided installing/trialling the Advanced Pack you mention as I have Ignite Pro 4.1.x (bundled with VP 16 Suite and updated) working in VMSPs. But the Pack does come with the download manager (see Nick's download FAQ)

@BWX232 regarding "refunds": https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/article/revoke-order-return-right-of-withdrawal--1515/ This applies to "upgrades"(the software purchased at an upgrade price) as well.
