DVD Architect 5 keeps crashing

I am using Movie Studio HD Platinum 11
My operating system is Windows Vista 32 bit. My movie renders ok and I am taken to the DVD Architect screen but when I click make DVD I get the message scanning for devices and the busy icon and the program freezes. I do not get the burning wizard as I expected. Pressing "Ctrl-Alt -Del" I get the message "program not responding" and the whole screen greys out. The only way I can recover is by powering down. I have uninstalled the programs and reinstalled but no joy. I am pulling my hair out with frustration. Windows DVD burning programs work OK so this is not a hardware problem
.Can any one please help? as without being able to burn a DVD all my work is wasted.

What are you using for your source video in your DVD Architect project?

Is it a DVD-ready or BluRay ready file? You should not be using other video formats -- or video directly from a camcorder -- in DVD Architect.

Also, as your computer is running a very old OS, it's possible your computer hardware isnt' up to snuff. What are your hardware specs? How much RAM do you have? How much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive?

Many thanks for your reply. I have found the solution to the problem I disable my Blue Ray DVD Rom in device manager and now the program runs ok, luckily I have another DVD burner. All I can say is this must be very badly written software for this to happen.

Or a bad 32-bit Vista driver for your disc drive.

Could be but this is the only software that dosen't reconise my installed drives and why can't you declare your drives in preferences.

But if this problem is virtually unheard of (except on your machine), it's more likely an OS or driver issue rather than a bug int the program.

While I agree with Steve on the possibility of an OS/driver issue, it seems something like this has in fact been acknowledged as a kind of a bug by SCS Support at one time. See the posts by Melachrino from 2010 in this thread and here.
Btw, did the OP try toggling the "Skip drive database..." option in DVD A General Preferences?
