DVD Architect with Adobe Premiere Pro for editing?

Hey guys!

I'm new to this forum, it feels a bit weird being an Adobe user but obviously with the discontinuation of Encore CS6 (Adobe's disc authoring program), I have been heavily researching DVD and Blu-Ray authoring program alternatives. Perhaps this is weird for me to post about here, but does anybody edit using Premiere Pro and use DVD Architect for their discs?

Right now, I am just trying to plan out what the potential drawbacks or issues could be to using Adobe for editing and DVD Architect for authoring, if there are any. I downloaded the trial for DVDA and have been experimenting a bit the last couple days and so far I really like it, but it definitely seems to be a good idea to find out from experienced users.

Provided your exported files from Premiere are DVD/Blu-ray specs compliant you should have no issues. DVDA should take them without need for recompression. I'm not sure about markers, chapter points etc. It might be best to create these in DVDA.

Just a side note. You might want to wait a few days and see if you'd get the latest VEGAS Movie Studio Platinum (which so far has come with the same DVD Architect) cheaper than purchasing DVD A as a standalone.

Great, thanks for the info! I took advantage of the sale for Movie Studio Platinum for $30 less than just buying Architect by itself.

So far I have really enjoyed the program. It definitely will take some time to figure out and maximize my settings exporting from Premiere Pro so when I author in DVD Architect I don't have any mismatched settings or quality change.

Is Encore not available anymore? I use Encore CS3 and DVDA. They both have their ups and downs. DVDA does not support closed captioning, Encore does not support scripting (or at least CS3 didn't). If you create Photoshop Menus, the labeling of layers is different but just as effective. Neither will import chapter markers from competitors from what I can find but DVDA will import them from Vegas.

Adobe Encore CS6 is the last version to be released years back. Not totally sure what the exact reasoning was, but they no longer were going to have disc authoring as part of the creative cloud. So with the latest update to photoshop released recently, you can no longer quickly and easily just edit a menu from encore in photoshop, unless you either don’t update photoshop or just download an older version.

Having this in mind, I wanted another option for disc authoring (hence DVD Architect) that would still be very much usable while editing from Premiere Pro and so far I haven’t had any issues.

DVDA is a very good authoring program. I was just curious since I have never used Adobe Cloud. Curious that they disabled the menu connection in Photoshop, surely some people still have older versions of encore available to use. Like I said, I use both and like both, they each have their quirks.
