DVD speed issue?

I just bought a new laptop and external dvd/bluray burner. because I like Sony Vegas, I purchased an unopened box of Movie Studio Platinum 14 with DVD Architect. I'm trying to burn a DVD (for testing purposes I'm using a Verbatim DVD+R 4.7 16x. I'm attaching 3 pics of the specs for my laptop and dvd/bluray burner with the error message I'm getting. I've read some things online about emptying the temp folder and something about checking or unchecking the 'legacy GPU rendering'? I don't know. Aftger years of finally upgrading my laptap and bluray burner, Sony Vegas changed to Magix, but I only know how to use Vegas Platinum, and now I can't get my dvds to burn. Any help would be awesome.

I never use DVDA to burn the disk. Use DVDA and create a DVD folder. Use a program like the free IMGBURN to actually burn the disk.

So the laptop, dvd/Blu-ray burner and Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum are all okay? Just use the IMGBURN? Thing is, all the versions of VMS Platinum and laptops I’ve had over the years, I’ve never had that message or any other problem burning dvds. I just find it weird that I now I’m getting a “burn speed error.”

My approach is free to try. I don't like spending a lot of time fighting software and hardware.

Also discs aren't always what they used to be. Verbatim are nowadays owned by CMC. Personally I always use DVD-R, not DVD+R.

My impression is your Drive's firmware doesn't recognise the disk. Your image doesn't show the full drive's specs. Does it support DVD+R 16X? If not you may be able to update its firmware.

Okay, so try another type of disc. I can do that. I have so either brands. Can you explain what the drive’s firmware is? I don’t know what that means.

This might help explain better than I can https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware

For testing purposes, get some rewritable (RW) discs. And +1 for @DMT3's suggestion.

Another (short and sweet) definition of Firmware here.
