Error box

I am a seasoned user of the Sony Movie Vegas16. I have used it for a year and I enjoy using it, however I experienced some freezing with my movies in the midst of making them and the App totally cutting off and restarting. This last time it happen, it cut off and lost my movie I was working on and did not let me back in. Whenever I clicked on the Icon it read Error: You are not license to use this product, which puzzled me. I tried five times to no avail. Finally I deleted the software and re-downloaded the software back on my Dell Laptop and it refused recognize my serial number P-...... Please assist?
