Export and trim media feature?

Years ago when I would archive or save a project for a backup, there was an option to trim the media with adjustable handles. If I have an hour of project video, but only use 60 seconds of it in the final piece, Vegas would save the project in a new folder and trim all the media down to only what was used, saving much space.

Is that feature gone? I don't see it in the save or export dialog. I see "include media" but no option to trim media. Thanks for guidance.

File>Save as>Copy media with project.

If you choose the trim option it will not work with many type of clips and will end up copying the entire file. I used to use this all the time in the AVI days.

Marc, I can't find the option that mentions trim on mine. Do you have that option on yours? Anyone in Vegas Pro 13 able to see a check box for trim media? Just tried it with some avi files and still no go. Maybe it was removed?

Yes the feature is still there, but only for file types that can be "smart-rendered" by Vegas. This only includes AVI and a few flavors of MPEG-2. If your source video is something else, Vegas cannot "trim media."

Sony added a new Archive option to VP13. Go to File\Export\Vegas Project Archive and see if does what you are looking for. Also, look it up in Help.
