Exporting 4K

Can you export 4K footage with Movie Studio 13, or do you have to have Movie Studio 13 Platinum? I already purchased Movie Studio 13 because I thought that it was going to support exporting at 4K, but when I tried, it said that the maximum export resolution is 1920 by 1080, and it's poorly documented what resolutions Movie Studio 13 supports. Thanks for the help!

I don't have the basic Movie Studio 13, but check if this applies to it as well and post back.

So in my Movie Studio there is no XAVC output option

It's the MS 13 Platinum then. Someone needs to confirm that the MAGIX-rebranded builds are the same as the Sony MS 13 P screenshot.

Yes, Vegas Movie Studio 13 Build 987 provides the same.

Thanks Eric. Just to avoid any confusion, note that he too means the Platinum version.

So this is what I got from Magix support:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Magix Support.

4K editing and export is a feature of Movie Studio Platinum and Vegas Pro.

So guess who just lost $50? This guy!

Maybe not. Check what it will cost you to update to Platinum or the Suite.

Or wait a few weeks for MovieStudio14 and upgrade then.

As long as you remember to upgrade to MS 14 Platinum (or Suite). Otherwise you might get bitten again...

So the free upgrade only applies to MS 14 Platinum, not basic Movie Studio? Can someone give me a source on this free upgrade since I see no sources.

Here but it was due to expire on Jan 4.

Suggest you contact Magix and explain you bought the wrong version and see what they can do for you.

Yeah, I'm in contact with them right now. I think I'm probably just going to wait until February, when the new Movie Studio comes out, and see how much the upgrade will be for non-platinum Movie Studio (assuming Movie Studio 14 will hopefully have 4K support).

Be sure to check that before you buy then ☺️
