GPU Error

levijudah wrote on 7/10/2021, 3:37 PM

In Vegas Pro 18 [Post Suite Version; Build 527], I made a screenshot of the video track that dropped into my media bin. I right-clicked on the jpg to open up in Vegas Image. It opened up but after a few moments it gave me a dialogue box that stated,

"GPU Error;

GPU errors occurred, see Log for details. Consider saving your current project to prevent data loss."

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64bit, 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, NVIDEA GeForce GTX-1650 Graphics Card and is checked for GPU acceleration.

Is there a switch I need to check to settle this issue. Appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks; Marc

Is there a log file? What does it say

If you have an Intel processor, try updating its GPU driver. In VP 18, driver update in the help menu is.a fast way to find it.

Same error. :/

Not enough info

levijudah wrote on 7/11/2021, 3:48 AM

I already updated the driver and still get the same error. I haven't been able to locate the log file as well. What other info should I post? Appreciate your help.

It pop up only on that jpg or any jpg?

If you can share it, other will test it.

Does Vegas Image open when you load it directly?

In VP 18 driver update are both the Intel iGPU and NVIDIA ones updated?

What is your CPU model exactly?

I think the log file should be C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\VEGAS\VEGAS Image

Actually, I just opened Image without any file and got this error:

I got these errors in the log.txt file:

@levijudah
Place here a screenshot of the total pop-up screen that comes after clicking Menu/Help/Check for Driver Updates.

Based on the error code, this may be a bug on NVIDIA's end with the current driver:

https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/opencl-compilation-fails-with-unresolved-extern-function-nv-fast-exp2f-with-drivers-470-42-01/181632

Apparently Capture One and Premiere are having similar issues:

https://support.captureone.com/hc/de/community/posts/4403097252881

Consider rolling back to the previous Studio driver to fix OpenCL support.

I tried 3 different snapshots. 2 jpg and 1 tiff. I also tried to open them in stand-alone mode. I got the same error.

I went back and did a clean install of my nvidea current driver. I'm getting the same error. going to roll back to the previous driver to take RogerS advice. The following is a full screenshot of the error popup.

Thanks again for your help

Also, here are my System and Graphics card info.

One last thing is the log information on the last attempt to edit in Vegas Image

.

I will now try to roll back my gpu to the previous driver.

Hey Community! After returning the GeForce GTX-1650 graphics card back to the previous Studio Driver #27.21.14.6259, I now can engage Vegas Image successively within Vegas Pro 18 and in standalone mode!

Sorry for all the confusion. I guess we are yet to find out why the "current" driver doesn't play well with it. I don't know what changes Version 19 of Vegas Pro Post Suite will bring to that situation but I am satisfied for now.

Really appreciate the prompt responses and help. I have been a Vegas user since Version 5 but this was my first experience with the forum. I now consider this forum an added feature to the software.

Thanks;

Well, we know from online posts that the current NVIDIA driver broke OpenCL support generally.

Hopefully the next driver release resolves issues with Vegas Image and other programs. I'll test it when it comes out (and look forward to 19 as well when it's released).
