Greyed out clip after cutting out part of it?

I was quickly cutting a clip to make it shorter when uploading it to youtube, and while doing it I came across this weird greyed out clip beside the cut that I had made.

By looking at it I could tell it was just the rest of the clip as if it had not been cut. How did I enable it and how do I disable it?

Looks like a muted track but the whole track is not muted. Splitting a clip should not cause this ... CAN YOU REPEAT THIS BEHAVIOR or is this a one off?

Again, I have no idea how it happened so I can't repeat it. It's a one off

could have accidentally hit a keyboard shortcut to mute that portion of the clip once you cut it.

Yes, some odd combination of splitting, ignoring event grouping, deleting split audio event end, muting split video event end while quickly cutting a clip?

Except I dragged the end of the clip and didn't split it?

How did you drag the end? You may have muted the event.
