Unfortunately a forum admin tells at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/unlimited-license--141824/#ca886525 that they are currently testing two different versions of the website.

So if you go to https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-edit/ you'll see either this *)

or this

If you see the one on the right, you need to click the small triangle to see the New license option as shown here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/unlimited-license--141824/#ca886487

*) Please note that you need to click the globe button at the top bar there to change to your area's version of that URL:

I'm not sure that updates for perpetual versions are only available for one year. That was so with some Magix products but with Vegas surely updates are available for the version forever. Usually updates will stop being released when a new version arrives but with some situations even old versions get patched with an update. Such as the problem this year with Vegas not opening.

New license and update is perpetual, meaning you can use it for a lifetime. You won't get updates once the next version comes out, though.

With a 365 subscription you can use the latest version as long as you keep paying.

@sharif-ibraheem The "new license" option is a one-time purchase. You'll get a "perpetual" license which lets you use that specific version of the software continually with the payment of that single fee.

To quote also @RogerS above:

New license and update is perpetual, meaning you can use it for a lifetime. You won't get updates once the next version comes out, though.

Your 365 subscription expires if you stop paying (renewing the subscription) and you won't be able to use the software any more. Click to see this comment where the subscription conditions are quoted (from the circled "i" in the website's Online Shop).

brother.. look.. they are saying that you have to purchase a new license for VEGAS Post and it will be a lifetime license for the current version you will purchase.

It means the updates will be only for your current purchased version like if u buy Vegas Pro 20 then you will get all future updates for VEGAS pro 20 but whenever VEGAS pro 21 will be launched then your updates will be stopped but your VEGAS pro 20 will be free for you for lifetime.

I hope you understand now.

There seems to be a little confusion between 'update' and 'upgrade'. An 'upgrade' is typically when purchasing a new version number, for instance, Vegas Pro 21 when you currently have the perpetual version of Vegas Pro 20 or earlier. 'Updates' are free for as long as they are issued, They are identified with a build number, for instance, Vegas Pro 20, build 411 (which may or may not be the final build of Vegas Pro 20, since Vegas Pro 21 was published.
