Hello. I am trying to update vegas movie studio platinum 16

Everytime I open my sony vegas studio program version 16 it asks me to perform a big update with 2 yellow bars. One is called update now and the other is update later. I have tried about 40 times in the last months and neither link works. It says when I try that it can't update while the program is running. In task manager I find it is still running even though I have ended the task. It's really aggravating. I switched off the service as well as finding the actual downloaded hidden update file and clicking on it and the same window appears that says it can't update while the program is running. I have windows 7 home 64 bit on a good PC and never had trouble with an update before this. I would be grateful if you could help me out

Which version (basic or Platinum) and build of VEGAS Movie Studio 16 are you currently using? See Help > About. The builds after 138 (basic) and 142 (Platinum) may (will) not work correctly if you have Windows 7 OS.

@nash-alan

When I read this there must be something wrong in your Windows settings for refreshing things. The best you can do now to upgrade to the latest build is the following:
1. Shut down the Program.
2. Click your Taskbar and end all programs with Vegas names in Programs running and Background processes.
3. Go to your Magix account on https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/... your Products and choose to download this file

Download that file to your desktop and start it .
4. Choose your language and download only what you exactly need to download, only the install file of the latest build.
5. That build becomes downloaded to your Documents/ Magix downloads and installs itself.

Happy editing with the new build.

@j-v remember this one?

I know that very good and say it to people who have problems with the program.
But OP has a problem with downloading an update, if he get problems using it he knows now than what the problem can be.

@j-v That's generally very valuable information. Unfortunately in this case the latest build will cause problems for a Win7 user as you well know.

Nash, ignore the update screen. do not update as it will ruin your VMS16 on win 7.

Just keep clicking "update later" (this is another annoyances from Magix)

Or try Options/Preferences/General tab and untick the sixth box down "Use Newsfeed.....".
