Help - Black preview screen with audio & post-render video

TheSovietProject wrote on 5/7/2018, 8:12 PM

Hi, I've been using sony vegas pro 14 for a while, and done many videos, but this one video is causing problems. My preview screen is black with audio, and when I render it, the same thing: Black video with audio. I have unchecked the "media offline when not in application. I have also looked up many solutions, all of those haven't worked. My video card is a Radeon R9. Please give me some advice as to how to fix this problem.

I have also set the amount of ram allowed to about 3.5GB.

When I render the video, only the first minute is a normal video.

When you say one video, do you mean one of the videos you are using in a project or are you meaning a specific project is having this problems?

I mean a specific project is having these problems. Although, I tried to do a different project as a test, and the same thing occurs.

VEGAS Version 14.0 (Build 161)

Windows 10 Home Version 1709, OS Build 16299.371

Processor is Intel Core i7-3770. Installed RAM: 12.0 GB, my system type is a 64-bit operating system, 64x based processor.

I used an iPhone 7 Plus to record the clips. I want to upload to youtube (therefore set the post-render to mp4).

Update to the last build (#270) of Vegas Pro 14 here while waiting for the others to respond.

Oh and one more thing the project starts flashing a black screen in the beginning and then goes black altogether. Someone, please find me a solution, this is very annoying.

Are you able to show us the last part of the General part of the Properties of such a file on your timeline (rightclick).

Do you have Quicktime installed?

TheSovietProject wrote on 5/8/2018, 5:38 PM

That indicates that you don't have Quicktime installed, since no "plug-in" is shown at the bottom of the properties, or that there is something about your files that even Quicktime doesn't like.

Anyway, I suggest you rewrap the files from MOV to MP4 with FFmpeg. Instructions here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-convert-mov-video-e-g-iphone-to-mp4-for-vegas-pro--106154/

That will bypass Quicktime, which should help.

You wouldn't have to do that with VP15, which has better support for iPhone footage.
