Mike, fill out your specifications. You've just joined, it would help others to help you.

What is the BUILD number of your VP12? It's in there under "Help">About.

Yes, details. Put them in one place, the Specs form so everybody can assist you.

Grazie

Same problem here with 12.
I was using 10 (although I bought 11 as soon as it came out)
11 was always crashing, 10 seemed to be more stable and would work for 30 minutes at a time, always giving me the .dll error and the cuda error.
Today I made the mistake of following someones advice and tried running 10 in compatibility mode for W7Pro.
It disabled my ShuttleProv2 so I uninstalled Vegas 10 and reinstalled.
Well, after many tries, it won't register and can't use it.
Tried 11, crashed after 20 minutes.
Asked Sony for help, not holding my breath.
Made another mistake, upgraded to 12, thinking maybe they solved the crashing problem, since I had read many other people had the exact same problem.
N0w 12 crashes every 15 minutes.
Have been working on a movie tetralogy and now everything went to a halt.
BTW, I was having the same problem before buying ShuttlePro v2.
Any suggestions? At least any idea why 10 won't register? I don't expect to get my money back for Vegas 12 but I need to get 10 to work so I can finish this 4 movies.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

One more thing, Vegas is the ONLY software that crashes in my system. All others work great and constantly.

If you are still trying to register 10 its probably worth trying uninstalling the shuttle first. If 10 loads and you then reload the shuttle, turn off Options>External Controls (the Shuttle will still work). In 12, are you running plugins? Turn those off too. I've had some problems with the Explorer if I don't put it back the same way as Windows Explorer - had to restart my system before Vegas would load. So far the timeline and renders are working well for me.

I TOO HAVE THESE SAME ISSUES!! 10 worked great and still does. 11 in 64bit crashes every 20 -30 minutes when doing different tasks. 11 32bit worked great for a long time , then won't load exept once after a fresh install then no more. Finaly got 12 in and running but then started to crash consistantly after about and hour and hangs during some renders. I always have to "step out" of vegas and then come back in when rendering mutiple scenes out from the time line. It's like running thru the mud. Totaly slowing down the work flow. I'm hangin' in though.. been here since vegas 1... What does Douglas Spoted Eagle do I wonder?

Try turning OFF Graphics Acceleration. I had it on (by Default) on my GeForce 550, and it crashed about every 2 min.

Now it only crashes about every half hour!

Do you remember version 8... or 9, those sweet, sweet, stable days?

Chap

Sorry for the late REALLY late reply...still having the same issues so heres a bit more.

GTX 580 - video card driver version? 320.49
Is ONE SSD your only drive in this config? 1-120Gb SSD and 1 - 2TB for all my software and edits
What software do you have installed on this PC? Sony vegas 12 pro 64bit (I bought the $399 on I think it was called express)
Operating System? Windows 7 64 bit
Special features on board - video capture card - audio cards , other? Hauppauge HDPVR2, audio is just off the sabertooth motherboard

Not really sure what to do, SV has been an issue for me since 9 and I've tried everything suggested online. I/ve probably sent ove 200 error reports too :(

I forgot which version it was, maybe Vegas 5 or 6, but I was experiencing crashes for no reason. After trying all sorts of stuff, I created a new user profile in Windows and ran Vegas from that. It did the trick! It's worth a shot, nothing to lose. M

Low memory errors in Vegas
Published 11/09/2004 08:49 AM   |    Updated 07/06/2011 09:16 AM

When I open a Vegas project or render an existing project I receive an error message that states: "Please ensure you have enough free memory and resources."  How can I fix this?
_______________________________________________________________________

1.  Install Vegas to a newly created administrator profile.  This will require uninstalling Vegas, creating a new user account, logging off the old user account, logging onto the newly created administrator account, and then installing and activating Vegas on the new administrator account.  This allows the software to make the necessary changes needed to the registry.

2.  Turn down Dynamic RAM Preview as this will free up memory for other tasks.  This can be done by clicking Options > Preferences > Video tab.  We recommend setting this value to 64MB for standard definition projects and 100MB for high definition projects.

3.  Set the rendering threads to 1 on this same screen as a troubleshooting step.

4.  Turning down the number of video thumbnails will also free up memory and is more noticable on larger projects.  Click on Options > Preferences > Video tab and set the Show source frame numbers on event thumbnails to "None"

5.  Within Windows, Go to Start > Run and type REGEDIT.  Once in the registry, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and find the Sony Media Software (or Sony Creative Software) folder.  Right click on that folder and choose Permissions.  Make sure Everyone, System, and your Windows username are all listed in the box at the top.  If they are not there, add them.  Make sure all of those entries have Full Control set to Allow.  Click OK, close the registry, and try running the program again.

Registry warning: it is always a good idea to backup your registry before making any changes to it.  There is always the possibility of changing or deleting a critical setting causing you to have to reinstall the whole operating system.  It's much better to be safe than sorry!  This article from the Microsoft website can show you how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=322756
