How to Add a Date & Time Stamp to a Video

Hello All,

I have been using Sony Vegas 13 for quite some time along with SVDTS plugin to insert the recorded Date & Time.

I have 20+ miniDV tapes left (HDV -Canon HV20) to capture and to render with recorded Date & Time. SVDTS is obsolete now.

I am planning to acquire Sony Vegas new version and I am wondering

1/ whether it is still possible to import footages from tapes via firewire ?

2/ if there is any emmbedded feature that helps to render the video with recorded Date & Time ?

Date and Time can be taken from the footage metadata or from the file name.

In this forum, I have not seen anything easy to understang so far.

Thanks for your help.

1 / Yes. It is still possible to import footage from tapes via firewire.
2. The Vegasaur extension has a tool called Title Generation Wizard that transforms the recorded Date and Time Metadata into text events.

Thank you Joelson for your quick answer. I will consider Vegasaur closely. Thanks again.

Vegasaur has a dedicated tool: Recorded Date/Time Subtitles that generates a subtitle file with timestamps and then you can import it using Text Wizard

Thanks Altarvic. Is Vegasaur also able to fetch the file name (from the footage), in order to display it on the rendered file ?

In the first video I made, the generated text event of date and time is static.

The tool that altarvic is talking about is exclusively dedicated to date and time metadata allowing the user to have several personalized settings. Note that this tool can even create a dynamic timecode, where you can see Hour, minutes and seconds passing

Alternatively you can also use the Titles & Text tool that is also part of Vegasaur to change the settings for the generated text events.

Vegasaur can also search for the file name (from the footage) and create text events with this metadata.

Watch this new video. In it I briefly show this whole process:

@ABDOUL-ABDOULLA

The credit is all from @altarvic. He is the developer of this fantastic tool called Vegasaur. It is one of the best investments that a Vegas user can make. What you saw is just a small sample of what Vegasaur is capable of.
