How to change the default file location?

I have Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0, and I'm trying to change the save location it defaults to (it defaults to the My Documents folder). I've tried changing it in the file properties and then checking the box, start all projects with these settings, so all new projects could save to the new location. However, the software creates a folder within My Documents every time I start the application. So how do you prevent this and how do change the default location?

I know in the preferences there's a way to change the temporary files folder, but that's all it says, no default folder location. Also, I'm trying saving it in a location that is on the same drive. All my other Sony creative software don't create a folder in My Documents when I start up the app (after changing the default location), just this one for some weird reason.

Create a new 'untitled' file. Set the properties such as where to save project too (what drive/folder etc) and save the 'untitled' file. Each time you start a new project select the 'untitled' project and your settings should be as you set them. When you finished just save the new project with a new name and it will also have the properties you set in the original.

"Save As" should remember the last place you saved to, unless you use the New Project and have a default folder there.
Internal (hidden) preferences have path options, but no need to go there.

Never thought of doing that, thanks. However, the software keeps on placing an empty projects folder in My Documents nevertheless.

Yep, the "Save As" does remember the last place I've saved to, but what i'm really trying to do is to keep the software from creating a folder in "My Documents". I might need to change those hidden options, but my problem is small so I don't think it warrants that sort of change. But thank you!

Do you use Project > New Project and have selected to "Manage project files"?

I don't think I have done that. Does that option prevent the software from doing that? I'll try it later today, then get back to you tomorrow.

Reading again your OP, I see you first say "the software insists on creating a file within My Documents every time I start the application." Later it's "creating a folder in My Documents".

Yea, this setup sucks. There should DEFINITELY be a default folder option IN vegas. My 'documents fodler' is on a server, so whenever I set a batch to render over night, it ALWAYS defaults to my documents folder, the times I miss it or forget to change it, it takes an extra FOUR HOURS to render the files to the server rather than to the D drive SSD in my local computer. It's not like vegas is Word, or PowerPoint or something, it makes NO sense to have it default to the documents folder.
