How to redownload DVD architect?

Alyssa-Bushunow wrote on 1/8/2021, 11:06 AM

Hi all,

I just installed a new SSD on my computer and I cannot redownload DVD Architect off the Magix website - it says it is unavailable. I even tried downloading the Steam version, but it is no longer available there. I have the product key, just have no way to download it. Can anyone help or get me in contact with Magix support? I am in the middle of a project and now I behind on a delivery because of this!

Also i deactivated the version off my old hard drive, so i have no other computers in use with DVD Architect.

Did you try your MAGIX account > My products or MAGIX Download Center?

Alyssa-Bushunow wrote on 1/9/2021, 5:36 PM

Yes, i tried both. There is not a download link to dvd architect in my products, just the serial number. When i try to enter the serial number in the download center, it says there are no downloads available for this product

@Alyssa-Bushunow I have both DVDAS5 and DVDAS7. I've just gone into my Magix account and was able to get a download of both. Do you see either of these in your account?

You should do if it's registered to your account. Click the 'Installation program' link and follow the prompts.

When i first purchased, i had the installation option. Now i do not as you can see below. All of my other products offer downloads, just not this one

The difference appears to be that Alyssa is using Vegas Pro 365.

This means I am unable to redownload the product even though I am paying for it and do not have any activations of the product on any computer?

This patch file is huge (~200MB) and it may contain the whole installation file for DVDA7 build 100 if it's not just the patch. Can you see if it's the whole installation file? You could just install it and use your DVDA7 serial number to register. If it's the patch it just won't install. I just tried to install it myself and it said it could not since it was already installed, and to uninstall it. Sounds good for your situation.

If that doesn't work and you absolutely need it right now you could order Vegas movie studio platinum 14 on Amazon as that includes DVDA 7 for like $30 USD. The disc includes the installation files, of which the patch above can be installed over that to make it the latest build of build 100.

Sony Vegas movie studio platinum 11 includes DVDA 5 but that seems hard to find, if you need version 5.

If you buy either of those make sure it's the Disc version and not a digital download.

@Teagan Yes, it's the whole installation 281MB.

Thank you! Turns out Vegas has discontinued DVD architect, this is why i was unable to download it off the vegas website in my account. I ended up finding a 3rd party site that had a trial version to download and I was able to enter my serial number in there.

Something very strange here. Going to the page that Teagan links to and then to the Installer link and it downloads no problem!

If you wonder about the time I'm currently GMT+13.

Seems patch files are more readily available and this one seems to just be a full re-installation with that build.

It was probably easier just to put that whole thing out other than a patch, if there was a big fundamental change.

Just guessing.

My experience over five years with VMS and DVDA is that "patches" are always a full build.

Anyway it doesn't explain why Alyssa couldn't download it from the Magix site.

My experience over 10 years with VPs, VMSPs, DVDAs has always been the same regarding patches/updates.
