I can't open AVI files

Transferring a project from my home PC to my girlfriend's has brought about a frustrating problem.

I can no longer open my project in Sony Vegas due to a missing codec. I get the error message: "An error occurred while opening a codec") whenever I try to open the project up.

It worked completely fine on my home PC, however I remember installing additional codecs years ago to make the project work. I can't remember what they were though. I seem to remember QuickTime Player and the K-Lite Codec pack. There could have been more. I've tried installing both of those and the issue persists.

The files in question are .AVI's captured using FRAPS. The application on both PC's is Sony Vegas Pro 14.0 (64 bit). My girlfriend's one is build 244, I have no access to my home one to check. We're both using Windows 10 Home. Hers is version 20H2.

I can't open the files in Vegas, so can't provide a MediaInfo report or a project properties screenshot.

The problem is the same with hardware acceleration on and off.

Here's a sample file to examine if needed: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bL3N_oEUDiGCr4TqXy44d-9nD6dLnurP/view?usp=sharing

I really don't want to have to convert the files as I don't like the idea of having to convert over a thousand of them. Plus they work perfectly fine on my own PC, so there's no reason for it to be impossible on my girlfriend's.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

You don't need to open the file in Vegas to use MediaInfo to provide the information. Anyway here it is from MPC-HC's media pane. Possibly the problem is you don't have the Fraps codec on your girlfriends pc.

FYI, please note that your application is VEGAS Pro 14 (from MAGIX), not "Sony".

@EricLNZ

@lan-mLMC

Installing FRAPS fixed the issue. Thank you so much! And thank you EricLNZ for getting my mediainfo report for me.

@vkmast Noted, thank you.
