I can't render any video. How can I fix this issue!!!???

Juan-Garcia wrote on 10/18/2020, 12:05 PM

I just bought a subscription for Vegas pro. For the past couple of years, I've been using movie studios. It's been a fine experience. Now i wanted something stronger. (i thought it was stronger. Now i know it's crap. It's easier to edit video for sure, but the rendering freezes over and over and over. I'm attaching my timeline. That's what i been trying to render. The odd thing is that i copied the timeline from Vegas pro and pasted it to movie studios and movie studios freezes when i try to render it. It freezes at 98%. I feel like throwing this pc out the window. It's so frustrating.

Removing the GPU accelerator is not an option. It's going to take 20 hours to render this video and that's not guaranteed to work.
I know it's going to take sometime for someone to contact me, but this shouldn't be happening. Vegas pro cost too much money to be ripping people off. Thank god i got the subscription. Never purchasing this software.

My specs are
CPU Ryzen 8 core 3.6

GPU rtx 2070

Ram 32GB 3200

1TB SSD

2TB HDD

@Juan-Garcia It would be better all right if it froze at say 2%. Waiting that long is a pain. Of course, not freezing at all would be much better.

You need to give users here something to go on though if you would like help, otherwise its a guessing game.

Post the mediainfo screenshot of your last piece of media, or the most used media in your project.

Post your PC specs. Ideally add them to your profile, ok see them now.

Post a screenshot of your project properties.

As J-V mentions in next post, it’s essential to have the very latest Studio driver installed.

All of the above is the absolute minimum needed.

My driver version is 452.06

Sorry but the media info is not available. I downloaded it but i can't find the project I'm currently working on.

JN- wrote on 10/18/2020, 2:26 PM

@Juan-Garcia The latest Studio driver is 456.38. You can download it from within VP ... \Help\Update drivers, or use the "Geoforce Experience" app.

The mediainfo info. for the clips you are using is essential, a common problem is using Variable frame rate clips from smartphones. If its from a camera then its not likely to be VFR, should be constant frame rate, CFR.

I would use the more modern render options ...

That looks impossible to me, that is not your memory but your extra amount of storage for files a.s.o.
For your Memory ( available and possible amount) rightclick on your Windows Toolbar and choose "Task Management>Performance" , there I can see this under Processor. Look how it is on my laptop

You try to render with an old codec, nothing wrong with, but there are newer and better ones. Look f.i. at Magix AVC, what are there your possibilities/templates?

i took your advice. i updated my GPU to the latest version. I'm now rendering my video and so far so good. Hopefully it remains as good as its going. I'll you guys know. Thanks for the help as well.

Juan-Garcia wrote on 10/18/2020, 6:14 PM

nah its still the same. It still freezes at 98%. I see that this has been an issue for years and Sony hasn't done anything about it. Disappointing.

@Juan-Garcia You give up easily.

#1 Did you try rendering using the render template settings I posted earlier?

#2 Have you downloaded the Mediainfo app yet, so as to post your video clip properties?

@JN- i just tried it again. This time it was on the template you suggested. It still froze on 98%. Also i downloaded mediainfo. The issue is i can't get to my project i search for it. None of my projects are available.

RogerS wrote on 10/19/2020, 1:04 AM

See what clip is at the end of your project. Try rendering just that one to a diff. format like Magix Intermediate and replacing it.

The Mediainfo all of us needs is the info of the source file you are working with, in this case the '1st - debate - debate ....' (file extension .MP4?)

For easier question, where this source media coming from? Is it downloaded from Youtube? or recorded through a TV recorder?

JN- wrote on 10/19/2020, 4:17 AM

@Juan-Garcia There are a few small things that are tried and tested, and sometimes do fix the issue, or help to isolate the issue ...

#1 Set Dynamic Ram Preview to zero, Options/Preferences/Video Tab/

#2 Supply the mediainfo of the clip(s) ~ the spot where the render freezes is certainly a help, not the mediainfo of the project file.

#3 Make sure that the source clips are ideally on a local drive, internal to the PC, not external.

#4 Updating to the latest gpu driver, you’ve already done that.

#5 Zoom in to ~ 97% on the timeline and see if you have some VFX applied there than you can temporarily remove, it may be causing the problem.

#6 Replace the media clip(s) at the project problem location by converting to intermediate file(s).

#7 See if you can render the last 10% of the project by creating a loop region, if so maybe save as an intermediate file, or at least a high data rate clip. Then replace the last ~ 10% with this new piece.

#8 See if you can render the project from start up to about 95%

#9 If it turns out that the media is Variable frame rate, convert it to Constant frame rate.

#10 Make sure that you open the window first.

dynamic ram is at 0 now.
this the clip you needed to see. Its just 1 clip.

It was externally, now I'm to test the render on a ssd with is the internal one.

When i click on the VFX icon, it turns the video preview off. I'll turn that off then.

#6 I dont understand what you mean. I don't know how to do that.

I rendered the last 10% of the video and it rendered perfectly under 3 minutes.

I tried rendering the video on constant frame rate instead of variable and it only render 16%. Usually it renders up to 98%. Don't know why it only rendered up to 16 this time.

The video source is coming from a capture card called Elgato. Recording gameplay/video from the ps4, xbox, and pc.

michael-harrison wrote on 10/19/2020, 3:57 PM

We need the mediainfo for the video files you're working with. Not the vp project. Not the sfk. The mp4, avi or whatever else you're using.

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

Juan-Garcia wrote on 10/19/2020, 4:01 PM

fr0sty wrote on 10/19/2020, 4:54 PM

Does it freeze rendering any media, or just that clip? If it's just that clip, we can try to convert the clip to another format first. Download an app called handbrake, load that mp4 file you gave us the mediainfo for above, and convert it to another mp4 file. Then go back into VEGAS, and in the project media window, find the original .mp4 file and right click on it. Go to "replace" in the menu that appears, and then load the new file you just encoded with handbrake. This will rule out file corruption causing any issues.

Another thing you can try is going into preferences, under the file i/o tab, and check "use legacy decoder". You want this to be a last resort, as the legacy decoders aren't as good, and can't do 10 bit or higher video (the vast majority of the stuff you're going to be working with will be 8 bit, though, so it isn't as bad as it may seem. Your clip above is 8 bit). There's still an occasional few bugs with the new decoder, though, so that is why they left the option there to disable it when it is causing issues.

JN- wrote on 10/19/2020, 5:40 PM

@Juan-Garcia What I mean by #6 is really similar to #7. In other words, #6 is really redundant, ignore it and try #7.
