It may depend on the 365 option you have chosen. You need to contact MAGIX (infoservice@magix.net) to find out. Basically, to cancel the contract, please send an email stating your customer/order number to infoservice@magix.net (Full details quoted here).

Quote from the MAGIX Terms and Conditions below. You might ask MAGIX to clarify the following conditions (esp. item 2.) re your annual/monthly payment option.

§ 2 Contractual period, cancellation

1. The contractual period of the software subscription is divided into minimum period and renewal periods. Both depend on the respective offer selected by the customer.

2. After expiry of the minimum period or renewal period, the contractual period is automatically extended to the specified renewal period of the selected offer unless the agreement is terminated by either party at least 1 month prior to the expiry of the contractual period.

3. The right of termination without notice remains unaffected. MAGIX is especially entitled to termination without notice if the customer delays paying arrears amounting to at least two monthly contributions.

If you signed up for an annual contact broken into monthly payments you have to pay until the year is finished.

The monthly subscription is more expensive but you can get out of it sooner (contract period is just 1 month, not 1 year).

The approach of Magix has never been to trick or coerce people into purchasing something they don't want or need, vis-a-vis subscriptions, and this goes back (in my direct experience) to other subscriptions they have offered, as far back as the early 2000s, well before Vegas was even on their radar. It was mostly a convenience afforded the customer.

I have never had an unreasonable or unfair dealing with this company - when they might have, and other companies certainly would have - and this well established and consistent company M.O. going back twenty years. Magix' customer service is prompt and second to none. I give them the very highest marks in this regard, without qualification.

Perhaps you might offer them to pay for three months at the yearly rate, or have them switch you to the monthly (higher per month) plan and pay for a couple of months, or some equivalent formula they might come up with based on their own ability to bend contractual restrictions.

Question: If you @iEmby knew you only needed it for a short time, why did you not go for the month to month plan originally? Also, what would an outright purchase have cost, vs. the yearly plan you purchased? Just curious.

BOTTOM Line: expect to be offerred some sort of reasonable compromise and relief from the full obligation.

I recently purchased the Full Version 19 after a couple of years on Subscription (and, just FYI, Subscription is a VERY GOOD DEAL all things being equal) because the price was so low, and MISSED the 19+20 offer by a couple of days, (also very good DEAL) and they REFUNDED me the former when I subsequently purchased the latter. NO HASSLE, no questions, promptly. And this has ALWAYS been their way of dealing with customers.

Just an aside: I'm always a bit concerned that the MAGIX subscription model not get any sort of black eye, (and I'm certainly not suggest Mr. @iEmby is casting aspersions on the Sub model, he's just had a change of circumstance, it sounds like anyway) as some established users had been so deathly AFRAID of the Adobe style "subscription only" model being eventually forced down customers' throats, (if you follow these boards that sort of angst about subscriptions generally has been expressed, with the accompanying pearl-clutching, time and again, so I'm not just making up a fake controversy) and that IS NOT they way Magix has EVER conducted themselves. Again, this general observation does not go toward Mr. @iEmby, not at all, but more towards what people will sometimes "read into" certain situations, too often erroneously.

I agreed with the policy, which i misunderstood. I was taking Annual Subscription (Monthly payments) as like i can cancel my contract after 1 or 3 months with all used months payment (No refund needed). But i misunderstood that by mistake. Now i have to face it or make it use somehow. At least it will become like a boost to work on VEGAS more to make my monthly payments useful.

But i will suggest MAGIX that they should offer a cancellation policy for my type of customers that "pay the double or triple of ur passed time of subscription and u will be cancelled from ur annual contract".

There should be every type of flexibility in all policies with conditions in my opinion.

@iEmby but there is flexibility. You have a certain time to cancel the entire subscription (which you wrote you exceeded the time limit), and it says that since you decided to take the lower cost payment option, you have to sign up for 1 year, with payments spread out over the year.

The details in any contract is in the "fine print". It is up to "us" to make sure we can live with it. I do understand that personal circumstances can change, but that is something you have to discuss with Magix sales.
