Import event from hard disc

Hi everyone.
Can someone help me with importing an event from my hard disc into a project, typically a piece of clipart or a diagram downloaded from the internet or a photo etc.
The item imports ok but it is always put at the end of the project rather than where the cursor is. Obviously this is not a major problem but is very irritating to have to copy & paste it to where it should be.
This didn't happen in MS 11 (I've only recently upgraded-the week before MS 13 was released!!!).
I've looked at preferences but can't see anything obvious.
I'm running MS 12 Platinum Suite Build 896.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you importing this file into your Project Media panel?

If so, you can then drag it from this panel to any place on the timeline you'd like.

Or am I misunderstanding your problem?

>>>This didn't happen in MS 11<<<

"What's new in version 12: Double-clicking media in the Explorer window now adds the media to end of your project on the selected track."
Drag and drop and remember Auto Ripple.

Tnx for your replies Steve & Vkmast, I'm clicking on the icon "open (ctrl & o) which brings up an explorer window, then I select the object I want & click "open" at bottom r of window. This puts the object in the media bin and at the same time puts it at the end of the project.
I can drag & drop from the explorer tab in MS as Vkmast suggests and that does work ok, but all I have in the explorer tab listing is an object name without an icon, so I can't see if that really is the object I want (sometimes names are not very descriptive!).
If there is a way to display the icon for an object in the explorer tab that would do the trick.
Thanks again for your help.
Steve.

As it happens, only MSP 13 adds the Thumbnails option into "View" above Explorer.
In v 12 you could click the "object name" and use the Start, Stop, Auto Preview buttons and see the "object" in Trimmer.
You can also right-click in Explorer and "Explore Current Folder", which can be set to show the icons.

Thanks Vkmast, the "explore current folder" option does seem to do what I want - a bit long-winded though - but it looks like that's the best option.
Very grateful for your help & advice.
Thanks again to Steve for his help too.
