Import .mvp projects from Movie Studio 18 into Vegas Pro?

CWinMA wrote on 9/24/2022, 9:06 AM

Made a big mistake and had upgraded my previous Vegas Movie Studio to Movie Studio 18. It's a huge step backwards and the rendering looks really bad. I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 20, but cannot find out if I am able to import my project from MS18 into Vegas Pro. File formats are different. I spent a lot of time on this project. Is there any way to salvage this? (File format is .MVP and Vegas Pro does not list this format under importable formats....

I do not know if this will work, but try copying MS18s timeline (Cntrl A [select all] and then Cntrl C [copy]) and then Cntrl V (paste) into Vegas Pro's timeline.

Movie Studio 18 and newer are not VEGAS products. The last VEGAS Movie Studio was version 17. I don't know of any way to move from the newer Movie Studio versions to VEGAS Pro (or VEGAS Movie Studio 17 or older) other than recreating the project. If Movie Studio 18 has an export to EDL option, you might try that and then try importing that into VEGAS but there will still be a lot of corrections to make.

@CWinMA Hi, there's no way to open a Magix MS project in Vegas or copy & paste, the only option you've got is to Batch conversation,

There's a couple of options,

Objects in the movie, this will export each item individually & name it 001- 002 etc in your windows folder, But only items on track 1

Highlight each in blue, then use the Advanced settings to change the export settings, check the Resolution, Bitrate etc to get the right quality

That looks like it's just rendering out the result and you'd import the edited version into VEGAS. Personally, I'd just have both open and recreate the project in VEGAS.

@jetdv Yep, Render is Export in Magix, & yep it would export the clips as mp4's or whatever you choose just as final renders in Vegas do. Edits, cuts & effects will be added but there would be no ay to access or adjust those fx's in Vegas,

@jetdv Magix has an option for Uncompressed but i don't know enough about this info to compare?

The OP should also visit the MAGIX products community forum here https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/movie-studio/ where peer support for the Movie Studio products from MAGIX is available. There are threads like this one https://www.magix.info/us/forum/platinum18-how-to-export-mp4--1278652/ there.
