Instant Crashing when uploading file to be edited

Philip-Dark wrote on 5/28/2020, 10:55 AM

Hi Guys!

Need some urgent help!

As of yesterday, whenever I drag and drop video files to be edited, VEGAS instantly crashes. I haven't changed any settings, video files are compatible ect ect. It seems to be doing it ever since I updated the application yesterday.

Also, tried the GPU off trick and still no luck :(

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Cheers.

Remember which build you had earlier? I guess you could try resetting unless someone has a better idea.

Tried that unfortunately and still the same issue! Also no idea on previous build but I know im on build 452 now.

Before you try a reinstall, close VP and made sure it's completely shut down, using task manager.

delete the contents of C:\Users\[you]\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\17.0

the first time VP is started, startup will be slow.

Shut VP down again, using TM make sure it's gone.

Start it up again. I do these last two because I've run into render problems on the first startup after a folder cleaning. Doesn't happen if I shut down and restart again.

I have the exact same issue! I just updated the software a few minutes ago and it crashes every time I drag and drop or import files. The update might be for something because I used Vegas earlier today and it worked normally

I would uninstall completely; then reinstall a fresh copy.

I have the same issue with build 452. When I try to import media in the Project Media panel, there is always a crash. Another problem is that many existing projects will not load and Vegas crashes. So this new build is unusable. I've gone back to build 421. Now I have to live with that annoying message when 421 opens that there's a major update, even though I unchecked that notify option.

For my problem with build 452, I disabled the option "Enable So4 compound reader for AVC/M2TS." When that is enabled, Vegas crashes when any of my .mp4 files are being read.

I didn't need to do that with build 421.

I think about doing the same thing until there is a solution for that build 452

Where is this option? I have looked and looked. Is it only in File I/O for certain operating systems.

@Crowyote  ... For the So4 switch, click on Options and then, while pressing down Shift, click on Preferences. In the tabs at the top of the Preferences window that opens, you should see a new tab called Internal. Click on Internal and, in the field at the very bottom of the Internal window, type in So4 - the list should then filter down to 4 items. Change the Value for the 2nd item (Enable So4 compound reader for AVC/M2TS) from TRUE to FALSE, then hit OK. Et voila!
