The disk randomly ejected about 66% through burning and I got "the command failed due to a ioctl error"

Searching the forum for similar issues I see a few old threads with suggestions to prepare in DVD A and burn with an external application. See e.g. this thread.

Hi

. . . . the command failed due to a ioctl error. . . . Memorex MRX-800LU v2 . . .

The ioctl is an input/output control and may have glitched due to the burner, being an external USB device, having an issue, such as:

  1. the USB cable became partially disconnected

  2. the USB cable is of poor quality and/or loose in the USB socket

  3. the USB port the drive is connected to may have powered down due to Windows power management putting the USB ports to sleep - in theory this should not happen while the drive is active .

  4. the selected burn speed is too high.
