"What is wrong with using DVDA to burn my discs "

I have never had any problem with burning discs with DVDA. Other products may have an interface or features you prefer.

Negative comments come from people who have had a bad experience (which may or may not have been due to DVDA) or are just plain prejudiced.

But I repeat my comment above, DON"T WASTE TIME WORRYING ABOUT BURNING IF THE ISO FILE IS FAULTY!!!!

Once you are able to mount the ISO file and play it, you can then look at the burning issue. It may well have gone away.

SUCCESS !!

Somehow the break through came when I started to use Virtual Clone Drive. I wish I could play my Blurays on my PC. Tried using VLS with the addon DLL's and it will play BUT not not the menus.

anyway - I have a new problem now relating to severe pixelation , stopping and starting of my bluray discs.

however, I will start a new thread.

Many thanks to all those who suffered through my Newb learning curve. and btw - I have added my system specs to my profile page.

Hello All:

I'm a little late to this conversation, but here is what I get when I want to make a BD in DVD-A 5.2 and 6.0. This image is from 5.2:

So it's hard coded to burn an ISO? I don't burn BD's with DVD-A because it does not recognize my external BD burner. Instead I let DVD-A burn the ISO and I use a third party software. The burner came with free Cyberlink (which I don't especially like) but with that and Virtual CloneDrive, I can watch the ISOs on my computer as well.

As many already know, ImgBurn is a great free software to burn ISOs. I don't know why but I have always had a hard time with ImgBurn, so I'm switching to Burn Aware. Not free but I like the user interface better and it seems to like me better than ImgBurn.

Regards,

Kimberly

"So it's hard coded to burn an ISO?"

It would seem so.

In the days when I toyed with AVCHD discs (Blu-ray files on normal DVD), the files had to be patched before they would play on my Panasonic BD player. This meant mounting the ISO file with Virtual CloneDrive, copying the files to a new folder, applying the patch and then burning with ImgBurn.

Since then I mainly make Blu-ray ISO files to play on my hardware media player (Dune), but DVDA has a bug in which the scene skip function is partially broken. (Cannot skip scenes once you access a scene menu with some players, such as my Panasonic, although the skip does work with my Dune.) I therefore use TMPGEnc Authoring Works to make my BDs, but TAW only makes folders, so I have to use ImgBurn to turn the folders into an ISO file.

That is the perversity of it all. DVDA only makes ISO when I want folders and TAW only makes folders when I want ISO.

Oh, and I agree that the interface of ImgBurn is a bit clunky. I have to spend some time studying the set of main icons before deciding which one will perform the function I want. And you have to select the BDMV and Certificate folders one at a time to make an ISO.
