Try right-clicking the marker bar and "Set Selection to project" to set the loop region to the ends of the project. See that the project ends where it's supposed to end. Try rendering with "Render loop region only" checked.
You might have something left you haven't noticed later on the timeline (like a marker etc.).

Yes. Although, i'm unsure if "make movie" has the option to "render loop region only". You may have to go to the more advanced "Render As", which i always recommend over "make movie".

Just tested this in MS Platinum 13. I set Selection to Project, shortened the Loop Region (the area between the yellow triangles) by moving the end yellow triangle. Did "Make Movie > burn it to DVD", which as such, as noted, does not have the option to "render loop region only". The shortened area was burned.
In MSP 13 "Render As" has been dropped from the Project menu and is found only in "Make Movie" options.

One other possibility is that you have a small clip (a frame or 2?) leftover far out on your timeline . Zoom in so that you can go frame by frame, use the CTRL-ALT left/right arrow command (while in each track) and see if you can find the event/clip.

you were right I have video way down in the timeline that did know was there! and I didn't know how it got there! got that delete, now rendering the right video super super thanks for the help

It's also really fast, easy, and simple to click the 'move to end of project' button and see if that looks like it's where you think the project should end. I've had cases where i thought i had an 85 minute project on the timeline but clicking that button took me to someplace past 7 hours. Deleting the "0-thickness" event at that point then put the end back to 85 minutes.

Yes. The options in Edit > Navigate often tend to get overlooked.
The shortcut for what Chienworks suggest is Ctrl+End.
