Ken Burns effects

michael-weis wrote on 9/17/2016, 1:45 PM

I'm making a Ken Burns style video.  My inputs are still images (screenshots with graphics sometimes) and a recorded audio track.

It would save me a lot of time if I had access to tutorials, help files, individuals who are experts just using techniques that apply to this type of project

I'm currently using VMS v11 but am willing to upgrade if that would make a big difference.

Thanks!

Hi Michael. I use the Ken Burns effect for all my photo galleries but I use VMS Platinum Suite 13 so I don't know if it's available on your version. Look in the Insert menu for the Slideshow Creator. If you have it, look for the Effect 'Fades with Pan and Zoom'. That's the Ken Burns effect.

I've been working with VMS 11 and it'll work, even if I have to work around some limitations.

But, while I have the command "fades with pan and zoom", this is a transition effect and I want to be able, within one image, to pan and zoom and then hold for a period of time under my control.  I think PAN AND ZOOM EVENT (as opposed to PAN ZOOM TRANSITION is what I need, but I haven't worked with it to see if it works yet.  You have any experience with this command.

All along, what I was looking for was SLIDE SHOW CREATOR.  But, as Jack said above, that's not in HD11.  There is, however, TOOLS > VIDEO > EVENT PAN/CROP.  Is that going to work for me?  Or other tools within VIDEO?

The OP says Slideshow Creator is not in his version VMS 11, which is confirmed by the Help files of VMS Platinum 11. But as ex-Cornico says, you probably can achieve what you want with keyframing in P/C window.

You might check the upgrade offer here though

(The comparison table says Slideshow Creator is included  in MS 13. Don't know if it's correct.)

Probably even better to look for the current offer of MAGIX VMS Platinum 13+14, valid until 09/29/16.

just stumbled across a tool called "slideshow creator"...it appears when you INSERT > SLIDESHOW.

Now it might not be as robust as the version in MS 13, but it might do what I want...

So it was there after all? Probably the same Slideshow Creator anyway.
