Aram ..Thanks for the effort on describing this problem ... I wish everyone would make that same effort to describe their problems .. But I can't reproduce this in V11 Build 595 .. maybe someone else will ...
Your problem appears to be very much like the problem I've run across in earlier builds of SVP v11.
My project contained about 1000 .jpg images. Each had 4 video FX applied: White Balance, Color Corrector (Secondary), Focus, and Brightness Contrast. Also, several of the clips had Motion Blur applied from the Video Bus Track.
Very soon after I would make a setting change to one or more of the video FX, or after I made a Pan / Crop change, Vegas would crash. I also experienced the problem that FX & Pan / Crop changes made to a newly selected Event, were being applied to the previously selected Event.
Limited testing of build 594/5 has shown that the problem of applying changes to the wrong event has been fixed. But It's too soon to make a statement about my other problems that appear to be similar to yours.
Well, thank you guys. It is quite frustrating. I have tried quite a few different things. Including installing build 521 (that crashes too) and re-installing 595, also applying the effects to video events and not just a picture, but still the same.
I was trying to figure out what exactly was it that caused the crash. I thought that in other projects I had a mask with feathering set up, so I started trying without mask. Here is the outcome.
I cut some stuff and accelerated it, but I managed to make it crash in three different ways in about 3 minutes of real time.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed after installing the latest driver.
I do not know how helpful this will be, but I tried playing only with the colour edition effects and there was not a single crash in some 10 minutes that I played around (considering that gaussian blur and pinch zoom always crash within two minutes, 10 minutes without a crash feel like a lot).
"Limited testing of build 594/5 has shown that the problem of applying changes to the wrong event has been fixed."
I spoke too soon. This bug is still present. Here's the scenario. 992 .jpg images of mixed sizes in a slideshow. I'm applying Pan / Crop to every image, and if needed, I'm also applying Sony Color Corrector (Secondary) and Sony Brightness / Contrast to images that need adjustment.
I move from image to image by clicking on the Event in the Timeline to make that image appear in the preview window, then I click on the Event Pan / Crop icon, leaving the Pan / Crop dialog window open while I make my Pan / Crop adjustments and move from image to image. When I run across an image that also needs color and contrast adjustment, I press the Plug-In Chain icon in the upper right hand corner of the dialog. Several times after adding my color and brightness Plug-Ins I've noticed that changing their settings shows no change to my image in the display window. If I click on the Pan / Crop Plug-In (the first one in the Chain) it shows that I'm making adjustments to the last image I was editing, not the latest image that I selected for edit.
The problem seems to be related to the simple act of leaving the Pan / Crop dialog window open after each Pan / Crop change. If I make my change, close the dialog, then move on to the next image, I don't see the problem.
I think what happens is the pan/crop window is specific to the event you opened it from, not the event you have selected. You don't need to close it, just click on the icon on the event you're working on and any changes you make will apply to that event.
1. I open the Pan / Crop window by clicking the Event Pan / Crop Icon of a specific image.
2. I make changes and add image Pan / Crop keyframes.
3. I leave the window open, and click on the Event Pan / Crop Icon of next image in the timeline.
4. I add Pan / Crop keyframes, and continue doing this with multiple images in the timeline.
5. With the Pan / Crop window still open, if I then add a video FX from the Plug-In Chain button in the Pan / Crop window (not the Event icon), the Effect is added to the chain, but clicking back on the Pan/Crop button in the chain, displays the last Image I was working on.
I don't believe this behavior should be considered normal. If I'm adding Pan / Crop keyframes to an image, then choose to add a video effect, the Pan / Crop window shouldn't secretly switch back to the last image I was editing.
It is not perfect, but I have solved my issue by using defocus instead of gaussian blur. I thought I'd leave it there for anyone finding the same issue I had.
