June 2021 I've downloaded the "major update" and tried to install it but it gives an error message saying it won't install while Vegas is running, but Vegas is closed, and it leaves no option. Tried several times in various ways, the update won't install.
Have you checked Task manager to see that there are no VEGAS processes left running?
The task manager just confirmed that the program was indeed shut down. After two days of trying, I downloaded the update no less than seven times. The last time I started the update, I took down the location of the update program. When the install failed once again, I went to the location of the update program file and ran it as an administrator and it worked. I confirmed it worked by going to the help menu and checking for updates. That was a seriously glitchy update. What a waste of time it was! At least now I can upload to Youtube.
