License Missing?

I have an older computer we've been using for work to render audio files for in-house use for many years now, running Magix Vegas 14. It's now developed a problem where the program opens, announces that it can't open files because there is no software license, and closes. We have the CD key, but the program never asks for it again, it just closes.

Any idea what has gone so terribly wrong here?

No idea, but when you go to your Magix account you have to find there under "My Products" your license to use

Your "MAGIX account" is here and here. My products > *your product" > Show more details shows activations.

Any error code number shown when trying to open the program?

Interesting. I went under the panel, and it does show that it's there and activated. Even more puzzling, under the "about" section in the program (about a split second before it closes) it shows that it is licensed to my email.

No error codes or anything- just states that it "Has encountered an error opening files. Software has no license."

I reached out to Magix and their support thing says I should expect a reply in 3 business days. I'll report back here if they do in fact get back to me.

I reached out again today. Never heard back the first time.

We have found a means to continue operating without the Magix software, but it involves using another program on another computer that no one knows how to run well. While I can become proficient in whatever I need to use, I'd rather just hammer out what needs to be done the way we've been doing it. I hope there's a fix for this, I guess we'll find out.

Something has got corrupted. Long shot but try a reset to factory default. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/
