Low memory?!??!! No ways!!!!!

When importing video clips & dragging to video timeline (VMS Platinum 8.0) error messages as to "low memory" or just "error" appear & clips go offline showing red in timeline. (Available memory: Physical: 6.34 GB & Virtual: 14.3 GB.) I'll be glad to include my system info if anyone with an answer would like to contact me directly at mvz11@telkomsa.net.
I do not at this time want to upgrade as I do not believe that this would solve this problem.
I will meantime struggle on importing one clip at a time which most times seem to work.
Please hear my cry for help, Marie.

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem. I recently upgraded my Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 to Platinum 11.0 and was looking around on the Internet for the solution to a problem I'm having and ran into this article

You might take a look at it and perhaps try what the author suggests.

Have you downloaded and tested the VMS Platinum 11 Trial version to confirm your belief?

VMS 8 had only incomplete AVCHD support (you didn't mention your source), and does not support Quicktime versions past 7.6.2

VMS 8 reached its end of life nearly four years ago.

Petronella,
first read the bit about "some boring Windows fundamental architecture" in the article that mike in ky above gave you a link to.
Then note this fix/change in recent builds of VMStudio Platinum 11 (since b283, current one is b322)
Notable fixes/changes in version 11.0 (Build 283)

Like musicvid says, VMS Platinum 11 has progressed a lot since version 8. Test with the free trial version, you got nothing to lose but your preconceptions :)

Both v8 and v11 can exist on the same PC without issue so no real reason not to give it a try.

But don't buy, just yet. If recent release history repeats, v12 should be announced by the time your v11 trial is over. Special upgrade discounts most likely will accompany the new version for a short period (typically 30-days) of time.

As mentioned, though, it would help to know what type of video you're trying to use.
