Mainconcept rendering looks 'corrupted' [SOLVED]

TroyTheTech wrote on 4/22/2013, 12:16 AM
Just wondering if there is a fix for rendering out to MC-AVC looking 'corrupted' is all I can describe it as. It's not regular Macroblocking/compression artifacting, it's glitchy, flickering, garbled-ness, to use technical terms.

Sony's AVC works fine, using the CPU or GPU to render (MC-AVC uses the CPU). The source video is fine and rendering to other codecs is fine.
I would like to use Mainconcept's AVC merely to utilize the customizable VBR settings.

I have tried reinstalling Vegas MS HD 11, reinstalling an older version (that used to work fine), keeping application focus, disabling video filtering via videocard Control Panel and disabling Windows7AeroDesktop; but none of these helped the 'glitchyness'...

Thanks in advance for any other ideas.

Edit: After more testing, even with all those things above 'enabled', 720p rendering works fine, it seems to be 1080p rendering with MC-AVC. Actually, after more testing that works too, there must be some minor setting that if affecting it...

Edit: Well, I don't know what happened, but creating a new Template (editing a premade Sony template) worked. I can even set everything to what I had before - and it renders just fine. Haha, no idea how it got corrupted or anything, but it's over on one post. Thanks anyway

Leaving here as SOLVED in case this approach helps others

Just wanted to add, after further testing, I found out what setting actually didn't work inside the Template. Perhaps this will help Sony with bugfixing...

Using the Mainconcept AVC codec, setting the Profile in the Template from BASELINE to MAIN results in 'corrupted'-looking video render output. This is unfortunate, as the 'higher-performing' Main Profile would enable CABAC and a few other things for "better" video compression. Utilizing MC-AVC with the Baseline setting works fine, at 1080p, at any bitrate, any of the other settings set to a myriad of variables. It seems to be that one setting/customization that causes problems (changing the Profile to Main).

This is still SOLVED, but I found out more specifically what was causing the problem.

Hopefully this helps others and/or Sony!

Tried Main Profile with GPU off? What template resolution are you using?

Without posting your full system specs, media, project, and render settings, no one will be able to duplicate your observations or gain benefit from them.

I apologize, I thought those answers were self-explanatory:

- you cannot utilize GPU acceleration with Mainconcept AVC encoding in Vegas (hence the option for '2-pass')
- any AVC template has the Profile selection option, they all have it
- I stated the resolution (720p works, 1080p doesn't)
- System Specs are in my profile, media/project doesn't matter as I said the source is fine and all other codecs/templates/options work fine, render settings are in the templates but only one option is concerned here and that is what is not working

I would be happy to answer any questions, but I found what was causing the problem and it is something inherent in the program that cannot be adjusted and must be worked around, once encountered. This posting is left here as it would help others not to waste time on the same issue.

OK then, best of luck.

Thanks.

No, you cannot utilize GPU accelerated encoding in any application, while using 2-pass encoding. It can be used for Preview Rendering but not encoding with the iteration that Mainconcept has for AVC in Vegas MS and Vegas Pro.

Your reading comprehension has much to answer for, as all "requested information" was now stated twice in this thread.

Please do not return to this thread again if you are only here to troll/incite/etc. It is, again, left up here to help the very small number of people that would even bother to use the minor benefits that certain Profiles offer and know in which projects and how they should be utilized. Thank you.

I'm not going there with you,Troy.

1. Baseline is the Default Profile selection, not Main, and most people do not change what they do not know about, hence most people not experiencing this problem
2. There are literally hundreds of posts of people expressing this very same problem (corruption/not rendering), both in sonycreativesoftware forums as well as other sites such as creativecow, designstudioschool and many more smaller, non-editing specific forii (such as gaming forums, where people are recording and rendering out for video sharing sites)

Please do not return to tell me this is not an issue and please do continue to clear/edit your trolling posts out of here, as you will be reported if you are only coming here to argue. Thank you.

Troy,
you know of course that 'designstudioschool' is a current example of a SCS clone website, which just reposts much of the content from these forums.
A recent post of yours from here was there attributed to an Enie van Bied. That's what I'd call trolling.

@vkmast
That is sad that there are so many 'clone websites' out there. I did not know that 'designstudioschool' was such a one.
A post of mine? I only recently joined here for pete's sake, can you please point out which one? All posts of mine are ORIGINAL CONTENT, by the way. Not sure who this "Enie" is.

Thank you for bringing all of this to my attention.

EDIT:
Haha I see it now! I was mentioning the websites before, as some of them were Google results, but actually going to the website (poor anti-virus probably woken up) it looks almost exactly like SonyTalk or whatever it is here.
That jerk asking "does NewBlueTitler still crash MS12" is definitely not me. That's hilarious!
That still does not escape the fact that many people have experienced this. I am leaving this up here so that others can at least see the same problem and simply how to work around it for now.

>>>Not sure who this "Enie" is.<<<
This poster was there recently an Elizabeth Falvey and I can assure you I am not.
I'm also leaving this here to remind us not to believe everything we read.
